The other day on St Johns Rd/Plough Rd intersection a bus went through on orange, a car on the red and then another bus at speed after it had been full red for a few seconds. It's a horrible juction and one I regularly jump with the peds in order to hopefully prolong my life.
Also saw a shocker last night on Acre Lane/Bedford Rd. Light turned red yet 3 or 4 cars slipped through, to the point where opposing traffic had to beep at them before they would stop - maybe 3 seconds into the red? If you'd anticipated the light change and taken off you'd have been done.
There seems to be no real enforcement so no fear of a penalty for it. More police, bigger gaols and transportation for life should sort things out. That or just put a bloody camera on every major intersection.
Both those junctions are horrific

In line with the 'buttock' sub thread, there was a girl riding up through Battersea Rise the other day who was kind enough to be wearing a pair of hipster jodhpurs with her lacey thiong on dipslay for all to see. I've never seen so many Felts and Cervellos tailgaiting a mountain bike before.
As to spotted, Girl on a lovely blue merx in Wandsworth last week (i was walking mine) and some (older) guy on a nice grey and white fixie this mornign at the junction of northcote road and battersea rise. I should probably say- My initial thoouhgts were "nicked" but then I noticed that the dirty white vest and chinos actually complemented the bike quite well.
Damn slack chain though, you wanna lose a couple of links matey.

Southfields John is a legend, especially when he's in costume. He lives around the corner and I've seen him variously dressed in a pair of tiny shorts, or as:
Father Christmas
Henley Regatta Straw Boater Type
Top Hatted Victorian GentHe's always got a bike around too, although I've only seen it used as a prop after four cans of special brew. Bellows "Have a nice day" at anyone and anything that moves.
Actually a nice character to have about when the tennis hordes appear each summer.
This guy still hangs around Southfields station, usually on the side of the road opposit the tube. I see him every week. His beard has lenghtened considerably

My Specialized Langster got nicked yesterday from Chelsea, just been to Brick Lane but nothing there. Just trying to do my 3 posts, before I get a full description up. Bikeshd is a brilliant idea, and good tip
Once again, New Covent Garden Market on Sunday is a potential trove adn just over the river from Chelsea. I heard from my mate that there were groups driving around in white vans with boltcutters nicking stuff off the street, and indeed I found at least three of them there when I went.

Register the frame serial number on www.immobilise.com before your bike gets stolen, so if found by police it can be returned.
I have no connection to the site (other than as a user of it myself), but it's one of the few databases that the police bother to check. You can record any serial numbers on there eg xbox etc so if a thief gets caught with some stuff the police can actually prove it and get a conviction. Most items and bikes are sitting in police pounds or returned to thieves because no-one ever knows their serial numbers!
I use this as well (and have got one of their cheap little immobitag radio trackers with a horrible nasty sticker for my lovely frame). Not only do the police check it but also secondhand shops are supposed to check it before taking any goods (otherwise they can get done for handling). not much use to anyone whose bike has already been nicked to be fair (unless you have the actual serial number) but if you have something distinctive you can put it up there after the fact.

you'll get that confidence smashed out of you again when this film comes out and every time you stop at a set of lights some numpty in a van says "you on a 'premium rush' at the moment, mate? haha!"
just pissed myself laughing in the office. Better switch back to a different site like BBC news or the metro or something

I'm all in favour of more people with fixed gear bikes round here. More people with bikes of any sort. It's all good. I've not actually been here all that long - only since '96. There's a chap I know nearby who used to ride fixed back in the 50s. Not remarkable I suppose, except that he lives on Canonbie Road.
My mate used to live at the top of canonbie. Nasty hil. Still rickets in the area though. We're much more evolved over tulse hill way

If anyone has "mislaid" a single speed black Garry Fisher, with a white saddle (with a black section on the back?), narrower wheels than 700x23's (which is what mine are), bright green bar tape, and (I think) shimano spd pedals, I followed it for a bit on my way home last night.
The chap riding it was doing so like he stole it (up and down full hight kerbs, trying to sprint away from me when he realised I was following, only to give up and then try again once he'd got his breath back). What initally made me suspicious of it was the fact that he was wearing open sandals with spd pedals, and that he had the seat right down and could barely reach the pedals. It was certainly too tall for him to stand over.
Let me know if you recognise this description, and I'll let you know where he went. not sure it'll help, but it might do!
I work round here as well. will keep my eyes open for this as well as the Fuji..

white deep-v's (rear non-machined)

A lmnh rider on a carbon bike with Isaac forks heading into Richmond park yesterday and a dude who looked like an aspiring Lenny Kravitz on a beautiful chrome fixie at the junction of Garratt Lane and Wandsworth high street this morning. i was going to shout DAS but was standing outside work looking like a normal ped and thought I better not draw attention to myself.

I had My Merckx O.S. Strada nicked (they didn't even leave the locks that they had sheared through), put an advert on gumtree and then got a call from a sketchy sounding gentleman the next day- I went down to meet him at his stall at New Covent Garden Market (Vauxhall) where some guy who had 'bought it from another stall) (B+llocks had he!) and was trying to re-sell it- They called as they couldn't get my seatpost out (Thank you Chemical Sealing- I will never complain about stuck seatposts in the future) and thought I had a radio tracker in (I have now).
Anyway, I went down there and managed to get it back. The guy insisted that the stall wasn't is and that he was working there for a friend (blah de blah de blah) as the guy who had my bike shone his gold teeth at me and his mate handled a D lock threateningly. I told them that it had been reported to the police, the police knew I was there etc. and they parted with it easy enough. Lucky me...
Anyway, Afterwards I told the police officer that I had been dealing with that I had seen three or four similar stalls all in the market / jumble sale. The police promptly did nothing about it. **Please be aware that if you live in South London there's a good chance your bike may be there. **I saw loads of nice bikes stranded between the mountain bikes and shoppers, including a nice old 80's condor with some lovely kit on and loads of other stuff. There were a particualrly large number of expensive road wheels as well- all shoved on top of each of the white vans. One stall was pretty much all seat posts and saddles. Well peeved that the rozzers did ntohign about it. more bpeeved that these guys are still going round collecting what they can and getting away with it.
Me in the Paletti shop in Modena last friday, drooling uncontrollably and gibbering down the phone to Marc.
