trickers have just arrived. slightly loose around the heel and a bit of room in the toebox, but still pretty comfy. should I keep em?
Yes. They are thick leather shoes and will take time to wear in and become flexible. Hence why if you wear someone else's old leather shoes they feel very uncomfy even when the size is right.

Unfortunately, Fleabay do not always shower themselves in glory and you have to be careful what they promise on the website and what they actually do.
And here is the point. ebay involves risk. They make assurances that the journey will be a safe one and for the most part it is but when it does go wrong you'll find it very hard to find settlement and any naive notion of 'fairness' or 'justice' you have will be challenged by their deliberately open ended policies. I know of a stolen bike that is listed and has been re-listed on ebay at this moment and it makes you wonder exactly what measures they put in place to stop this happening. Their response is to go to the police but in the meantime they will be happy to collect any fees on an item that is reported as stolen.
Caveat emptor.

I wonder if Time has discontinued Aliums. Not that they are in short supply but I can't find anything about them on their website.
I found that one of the springs is loose on mine and although there's no noticable lack of bind, it does make a lot of racket. Should I be worried about potential failure?

Fork should be easy to find on ebay. They are dime a dozen.

The thing is that the Look is quite a low grade frame when you see one up close. Ugly welds and finish. Worst flaw is the thick chain stay means that there's only a mm clearance between short cranks and the stay. Otherwise you have to mess with the chainline. The above pic seems to show marks where stay and cranks have met.
You can get one on ebay for a couple of quid. People make them out of threaded pipe and nylon washers.
