Spuds, I'm still looking for something similar to this if something else comes up. Just not in 'rust' colour :)
Sorry mate, it's the next part of the clearout. I've got too many bikes in too small a house at the minute so can't fish the next one out of the attic and make a start on the build until I shift the langster and the geared raleigh - both of which should be gone by early next week.
I'll pm you when I'm sure I'll have it ready - hopefully Thursday next week as I ned Brixton Cycles to press in a headset which is the first step of the build.
Apologies for the shocking communication.
All the best,
Col.

NOW SOLD.
Afternoon all, after flogging a retro geared ride yesterday and apologising for its lack of fixedness or singlespeedness, I find myself apologising once again for fouling your fair pages with a Langster.
Regardless, the clearout continues and I have for sale a 2007 56cm langster (rust coloured). Manufacturer's details here:
http://www.specialized.com/gb/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?arc=2007&sid=07Langster
Spec is:
56cm Ali frame - compact geometry. TT - CTC - 56.5cm.
Stem - Specialized OS 10cm
Bars - ITM track - 46cm width
Brakes - Tiagra front caliper.
Lever - Condor cross top right lever.
Hubs - Specialized 32 hole
Rims - Alex R500
Tyres - Specialized Mondo - 23c.
Headset - Cane Creek IS2 integrated.
Bottom bracket - Shimano (UN54 I think - the one with the metal cups)
Cranks - Sugino RD2.
Chainring - Stronglight 44t
Pedals - Time Atacs
Chain - Izumi.I can also offer a profile bullhorn bar with either a cane creek TT lever or cross top if preferred.
Well looked after and mechanically sound - chain, bb and headset reasonably new and little use since insallation. Wheels/hubs serviced by Cavendish and little use since then. Swapped out the tyres early on so plenty of life there too.
Aesthetically, 6 to 7/10. Quite a few scrapes and chips - the worst pictured in the link below. Worth a mention is a very obvious few scratches on the driveside chainstay courtesy of me fitting too short a BB and suffering crank/chainring rub for a couple of crank rotations whilst still on the workstand. Also, seatstays - clearcoat scratched from removal of some shortlived reflective patches. All straight and true though.
Pics here: http://www.londonfgss.com/members3464-albums613.html
In summary, nothing special, lacking in soul, but cheap and dependable as a result of being very well maintained throughout it's life.
Looking for offers in the neighbourhood of £199.99 ONO, 5% of the sale to the forum, rounded up.
In SW11 for inspection / test rides.
Thanks folks,
Col.

just wanted to say, welcome to the Carlton Corsair owners' club
Retro geared bikes FTW, one might say
Thanks mate, I struggled with letting the Competition go as I've languished alot of TLC on it. It rides terrificially well, especially on the new wheels.
The Carlton means something has to go, so sadly the Raleigh is it!
Looking forward to lots of days out on the Carlton. It's this one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=330346576628

Apologies all, not fixed wheel or single speed, but I've noted an appreciation of retro geared rides on the forum, so...
Need to sell my lovely old geared Raleigh Competition to make way for a impulse buy of a Carlton Corsair tourer on the bay. I seemed to have reached critical mass on bikes, so it's a one in, one out policy sadly.
It's a 1982 Raleigh Competition, sized at 60cm with a very nice double butted 531 tubset, including forks and stays.
I've stripped this down 4 months ago and cleaned, lubed and polished every component, pivot, jockey wheel and bearing on the bike. Brixton cycles have put new bearings in the headset and BB.
Spec is:
531 DB frame. ST - CTT - 60cm. TT - CTC - 56.5cm. 100/126mm spacing. 74/74 degree HT & ST angles.
Campag Gran Sport Nuevo friction shifters, front & rear derailleurs.
SR Cranks, Seatpost, Stem (10cm) & SR Road Champ bars (40cm).
I've swapped out the Weinmann 605 brakes because as pretty as they were, I thought they were rubbish. I've fited new tektro r730 calipers and condor tektro branded aero brake levers.
Time atac pedals
fizik pave hp saddle
fizik bar tape.
6 speed screw on block - sachs, I think.
new cables and new 8 speed chain 2 months ago.I've added a new (to me) wheelset - campag record hubs on Mavic Open 4 CD rims. Little used Michellin Dynamic gumwalls (700 x 25c) also fitted.
I still have all the old componentry if you wanted to go retro.
I know it doesn't have the kudos of the niche brands or a special projects G.O.D frame, but it's a lovely ride that's been incredibly well maintained with upgrades where they matter.
More pics and the original catalogue pages here: http://www.londonfgss.com/members3464-albums613.html
I'm after £300 and am located in SW11 for test rides/inspections.
Thanks,
Col.

You'll have to knock out the existing cups first though which is a bugger of a job - a long spanner, a big hammer , a bike stand and an unreasonable amount of force required..
Don't throw away the old headset as you need a spacer and a seal (pics below) to compress it adequately.
Here's the thread where it was discussed. PM me if you need any more info. http://www.londonfgss.com/thread16117.html
