i love my sturmey 3 speed,
its and old one but it works great and never lets me down. The gear range is actually pretty good aswell.

The rear spacing is 110mm if that helps atall as i think most of the old sturmerys are...

if you don't have a brake on the wheel, surely the difference is negligible if your changing FROM 27inch TO 700c >?

I drilled (with great difficulty!) a 5mm hole sideways through the stainless shaft of the clubs that I used (as did Rik with his). After around 6 weeks use, the shaft broke. Given the difficulty of the drilling, I think I will either look at a different method of fixing the shaft to the mallet head, or use ski-poles.

so i made 4 mallets a couple of days ago and they seem to be standing up well
i drilled 5mm holes sideways aswell so im hoping they won't follow suit and break after 6 weeks..

On my Macbook I find that Firefox makes my CPU usage go crazy - if i watch youtube or similar in FF the fan goes mad and the CPU usage shows 100+% for FF

If i use safari i have no problems?

i have exactly the same problem (on my powerbook g4) but never noticed till last week when i was perusing activity monitor.
the Firefox CPU usage stays around 10% but every now and again rockets to 50-70% for no apparent reason - even when firefox is hidden and im using something else..

however i've stopped using safari because it kept freezing on me.

i just meant that it is possible for pregnant women who are expecting in under 3 months (deadly fanny packs comment) to fly

when i said she delayed my flight i just meant i was annoyed that she couldn't have done her paperwork previously rather than making us all wait for her

They dont let you get on flights if your 3 months within 'expecting delivery'

i was coming back from italy and a HEAVILY pregnant woman managed to get herself all the way to the boarding gate without being turned back (apparently "had to get home")
she then made the rest of us wait 2 hours while she filled out some intense paperwork to let her get on the flight..

Macs don't go obsolete very quickly - apart from the great shift over to Intel processors, of course. All the same, I know people who are running 10 year-old machines to do video editing, and while they're a bit slow, they still work. Whereas with PCs even if your hardware is still up to scratch, once Microsoft releases a new OS, you have to upgrade all of your software and your OS to keep up with all the latest drivers. It's a fucking con, really. Whereas I've plugged in memory cards from cameras that weren't even on the market when I bought my Mac and it reads the RAW files fine.
