yeah i want to [not for the money] but because it seems like a nice thing to do.

I saw this a while ago and have seriously considered machining my own plugs.
Using solid rods here and the lathe at my school i don't think it would be very hard.
However i think it would be advantagous to use ABS for the main shaft for weight.I have nothing against these guys but for $15 you can buy enough pipe for a couple of sets of plugs and DIY

actually i totally agree with you dt i think it would be a much better idea.
the only drawback is the weight but i think it would be possible to drill a hell of a lot more weight out of the mallet (not the plugs) considering the ends would be 'protected'
i think it just depends on what everyone wants tbh
