i dont' know but i pretty sure that the dye used to make transparent plastic also weakens the plastic,

Cohen, it looks like that site will also cut the HDPE to measure at a small extra cost - this would save you the work, it would be one less stage of production on each one.

yep sounds good, but i'm not sure if the lathe will need a bit extra rod to 'grab onto' if you see what i mean

but otherwise that sounds like it could really help in getting a perfectly flat head.

i've been talking to dave who has some 50mm rod he says i can use,
this could be used for initial run if matt has some 50mm abs...

then i can see how long machining one head takes and perfect the art before a bigger order
also, i'm inclined to giving my school department a bit of money (only a bit!) as it is their lathe etc. so that should be included in the cost i think

the price of hdpe changes dramatically with diameter..

the problem with two screws is you only get 1 rotation, rather than 2 with three screws

oh yeah i forgot to mention that these were done on a CNC machine ,not on a lathe, and made from 18mm board, so it took ages

if i do some plastic ones they will be done properly on a lathe so should be much quicker

yeah I agree screwing in is easy and better than glue
i've put one in my mallet and its an extremely tight fit (i used a vice to press it in) so that will help a bit

yeah i will for the plastic ones, but these are MDF so it didn't really seem necessary

unfortunatly these ones wear reeeally quickly so are pretty much unusable unless your mallet never touches the floor.

it would be good if we could get some 50mm/2inch exterior ABS pipe
dave has some solid HDPE i could make into exterior caps for that size piping.

ok I thought of a use. If you're running double fixed, say for polo, you could have 2 power links with a couple of normal links in between. That way you could quickly shorten your chain.

i think the main problem about T-boning is that the person is goal is likely to be hurt etc.

if i was sitting in goal i would certainly rather get out the way and let in a goal, than risk my bike being written off or breaking a leg.

i wouldn't say that i am extra careful without a helmet, just less likely to 'do a maneuver'..

When i'm tired, in a rush, riding at night or when the weather is not good i wear one.
On a good day, usually not.
However i have noticed that i am slightly riskier when wearing my helmet.

the problem with 1.5" inside diameter is that with the caps i would like to make that wold be your head size whereas the head is bigger using plumbing caps like you have vidal
is there a (slightly) larger diameter abs easily available?
or do you think the smaller head would be ok?
