Going to start the next bike build and am looking for an older Peugeot. I know that not all Peugeots are created equal, and also that it's hard to sift the wheat from the chaff.
I know also that people don't necessarily like Peugeots. Don't care.
Does anyone know which models to look out for? I don't need super quality just the ability to find the lighter ones from the leaden ones.
Thanks!

These are super useful products, though not for saddles/seatposts.

Is there a charity thing set up? Is everyone just giving whatever they want? Another option is for someone to make generic Watch For Riders (not specific to this event, I mean) spoke card that people might see in spokes to raise awareness everyday not just when we're doing big rides. If people want to buy them the proceeds could go to a charity of the family's choice or towards her hospital bills or whatever?
Hope no one suggested anythign like this before or thinks this is rude.

El Guapo & my bikes were stolen recently, y'all have been more than awesomely accommodating in helping him get bits for a new one, I thought I'd see what you can rustle up in my direction.
I'm looking for a 52cm road bike, geared or ss, I don't really care, and I will be over there Nov. 29th and can offer you between 125 and 250 of your monetary units for the lovely piece. Of course, with the conversion rate changing, I may be able to offer you more. Please let me know if you have any leads on a complete starter bike.
Hm. Actually, now that I think about it, if you have a frame for around 100 quid I can do that, too.
RIP: Ragazza Bella!

Depends what cranks they are. Maybe yes, maybe no. 135 'suggests' road double, 144 'suggests' track specific, so 'possibly' you old road double cranks used a 102mm bb and your new track cranks will need a 111mm bb. But it is tough to say given the info
Yeah, you're right. Thanks! In case you'd care to know more, I'll inundate you with info.
Mid-80s Bianchi, double chainring road setup, Campy drivetrain. 135 BCD.
Converted to ss (16t cog), bought vintage Campy Super Record cranks with BCD of 144 and looking for pista or chorus 44t chainring.
44t/16t is just fine by me, that's my preference.

Sorry, just re-read the title. 135mm is enormously wide for a BB, are you sure that's true. As far as I have found out 120mm is the widest Campag provide and that is from the eighties. 135mm must be for a triple chainset, in which case depending on your frame you might have chain line problems, or have to dish your rear wheel.
Sorry, I appear to have been extra tired last night when i wrote that. My current double chainring setup has a BCD of 135, and I have just purchased a new crankset (just the cranks) which is 144, both are Campy, and I wondered if I would likely have to replace the BB, b/c I don't know if the measurement for that changes depending on the measurement of the BCD. Maybe I'm asking a needless question, but I just dunno! Thanks for the response, though.

Yah, there's an abandoned bike in my n'hood, I've noticed it locked up in the same place for nigh on a year. Lock's rusty and the bar tape's unraveling. I think I'm gonna snag the bars if they're a fit for me, I might want to go back to drops & they look nice. Good thing I found this thread, I wondered what others thought on this topic. I even asked the owner of the restaurant it's outside of, knowing that that kind of chain/lock setup is common for delivery guys here, and he said it wasn't theirs.

unemployment is high in spain and unless you speak the lingo your chances of getting a job are slim.
I have a good friend who works out there but she is a language teacher so the lingo is not a problem, the cost of living is nearly as high as london, rents are very high out there.I'm savin' a ton of money before I get out there and am used to NYC rents so won't get sticker shock. In fact, I'll probably be paying less than I do where I live right now ('course I'll be making less, too).

jayloo. I have friends in barcelona. It's a beautiful place to visit / be (think amsterdam / glasgow) with better architechture, weather and a cafe culture. But unless you not only speak catalan, but are catalan, you're unlikely to find work out there, of any shape or form, maybe not even bar work.
Well, I'm a nearly white-blonde with blue eyes, so I don't think I am able to blend in very well. But I speak quite a lot of Spanish and am going to learn more. I know about the Catalan thing, that's why I'm taking it in 6 mo intervals. I plan on teaching English, doing massage (I'm licensed in the States and I've heard it's better there now, from someone who is Spanish-American and also a massage therapist), doing whatever else. I keep running into people who know people in Barcelona, so I'll have a few contacts.
Basically, it seems my best option but getting there may put the lie to that idea.
Thanks for your thoughts! Maybe not spending $500 & buying a beater there really would be the best idea.

i brought a bike from australia to the UK (on the plane) and it wasn't a hassle. i say do it.
maybe be careful about posting your intention to work illegally on a public forum, though.
I suppose you're right. Though I wonder if maybe spending the money to get it there & possibly have to return home in 6 mos is as good an idea as finding one there? But then it wouldn't be my bike!

I'm an American moving to Barcelona at the end of November. Most likely I will not be working legally, therefor am doing my stay in approximately 6 mo intervals. I'm considering repainting my bike & getting new rims, but that will cost me nearly $500.
So the question is - kit out the bike & take it with me or pack it up & buy a used one when I get there? Does anyone know anything about the ss community in Barcelona? I've not looked yet, thought I'd ask in the meantime.

Whoa, I'd never heard of a bike bag. It's still oversized, though. What do you guys think about how easy it'd be to tetris a bike into a cardboard box small enough that it wouldn't be considered oversized by the airlines? Guess I'd have to know the outsize of their less-than-oversized dimensions, eh? Hmmm...time to call up KLM.
I'm moving to Barcelona at the end of November and this is a timely discussion.
Thanks, I knew I should have done a search on here first.
And if PX10s are probably not available, what's another line to look out for?
