found the trixie chix site, they look pretty awesome. bike polo sounds fun, although i'm not really sure what it is. and i know i like beer. but what about good, local bike shops? just in general, i don't have a specific area as i haven't found a good apartment, i mean flat, yet, but i'm working on it (any tips there?).

hi! i'm moving to london from the usa in about 5 weeks for grad school. i just stumbled upon this site, and it looks pretty great... i've decided not to ship my single speed cause it's gettin rusty and i'd better sell it here, save the exorbitant shipping costs, and just buy a new one over there. i have some great friends here who run a recycled bicycle shop, freeze thaw, and i'm trying to find a similar place over there, anybody got a good recommendation? and/or if you know anyone who's about 5'6" and looking to unload a decent singlespeed, hook a sister up. also any other advice for a new kid coming onto the scene would be totally appreciated. thanks so much :)
although in many ways i feel like i've gotten dumber from reading these posts... thank you ;) i've been looking on gumtree and this other student housing/flatshare website i've found but everything seems to be super last minute as far as housing is concerned. i'm from pennsylvania/philadelphia/new york. in the states you're referred to as "foggy londontown" quite often which is why i titled the thread that way, perhaps a mistake, but i meant no ill will. these diy bike shops skullhead named are just what i'm looking for.. thanks!! and hey, if anybody you know is in need of a flatmate, let me know. thanks again for all the little tips. i was reading about bike polo, too, and it looks awesome. kinda makes me wanna get a fixed gear instead of a ss, although last night my friend was showing me a little gadget on the hub of his new bike that switches it from fg to ss... how common is this? seems like a pretty cool idea. i'm mostly just worried about getting plowed over by a double decker while learning to adjust to fixed. ok have a great day guv'nors.
