yeah cheers guys, i guess i'll have to get a bb tool, i just wondered if there was any way i could bash it through like i do with my bmx but i guess racing bike are a bit harder to bodge haha. I'm planning to get a whole new chainset so could someone recommend a good bottom bracket (cheap) which could go with sugino RD cranks. My bottom bracket shell measures 67mm.
Tokyo fixed gear says sugino RD messenger ( http://tokyofixedgear.com/proddetails.asp?idprod=99&multi=False ) but is there anything cheaper? -
my bottom bracket spindle sticks out quite far on one side but not at all on the drive side as can be seen on the above photo. This means that the drive side crank is loose on the spindle and if i tighten it up it rubs on the bottom bracket. Is there any way i can re-space the bottom bracket so more 'sticks out' the drive side and less on the non drive side?

aren't otp's always a bit to colour matched anyhow?!
I like it, i guess retail will be around £600 though so i think i'd rather build something up myself but it does look nice. It's amusing how some bike companys are trying to make the off the peg fixed gears look least like otp's (see giant bowery ?83?, and this fuji) -

I remember seeing some cages (maybe on smeear's bike but could have been on the net) of some cages with two loops on the top rather than the usual one. One loop was at the top as you would have on a normal cage but the other was about a third of the way towards the toe, for a second strap. Anyone know where these can be bought?

what events are people going to?
I'm thinking of coming from Birmingham the urban shorts (http://bicyclefilmfestival.com/2008_site/london/program6.php#a) on saturday night should be pretty good, is it the premiere of Macaframa? Is anyone else attending (if so which showing?) -

I scared myself the other day taking a corner too fast and clipping the floor with my peal so i've decided to go get some shorter cranks especially as mine are a bit shit to say the least. Are 155mm cranks (http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_92&products_id=1146) going to be too short? will they even clear the edges of a 44 tooth chainring?I guess it will make my pedal strokes harder (no pun intended...) but has anyone got any experience of running cranks this short?

also not wanting to start a new thread, are 155mm cranks going to be too short. I scared myself the other day taking a corner too sharply and scraping my 170s on the ground at speed so want to go shorter and need new cranks. I've seen these http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_92&products_id=1146 . anyone have any experience with this too?

lean your foot forward so you catch the side of the pedal nearest the opening of the cages with the ball of your foot and flip the pedal upwards the try and catch the entrance to the cages with your toe and slip on in. Just find a quiet road or a carpark at night and practice lots...oh and make sure you cages aren't actually too small to get your feet in obviously

I made some from thick velcro bought from John Lewis and a bit of sewing last night, it took all of half an hour and cost me maybe £2, it's so easy, 'you try!' Just cut the velcro to the right size, sew up the edges then bung in the straps and that's it...
