Freewheel can be picked up from UCL (near euston, TCR, russel sq) or Brixton, wheels can be picked up from brixton preferably, but possibly from UCL.

These are the wheels, can include one tyre but it's not in the best of conditions.

Considering it was the chain, bb and wheels that were considered the "achille's heel" (big heel!) of create/unipack, I don't think it's such a bad deal.

The frame is possibly similar, I don't know I've never cycled the sports direct one. It was an original unipack frame, I'm not denying it.

Jono, that sounds very probable, I had a back brake & couple of operations on my knees in the past, so rarely skidded before

chain line looks straight to me (is there a way to ensure it?), and the gearing is the same as with fixed where I had no problems. The chain-sprocket thing could be it, I will look into it. It could be that the chain was worn and had stretched a bit, meaning it comes off the new sprocket easily?

The lockring thing is bugging me though!

So I got a wheel a while back, fixed one side, freehub (I think it's called!?) the other.

I had only used the fixed side so far, which I am pretty sure I attached properly, and hadn't had too many problems.

However I had had problems with my knee, so I decided to buy a shimano ss freewheel and try out the other side... and this morning I screwed it on to the freehub side of the wheel, put the chain back on and off I went to work.

However the chain must have slipped off 5 times at least on the way, I tried different tensions, made sure the wheel was bolted on as tight as possible, but it kept slipping off. Quite annoying and made me glad I had 2 brakes set up...

I also noticed that the first time it fell off, the lock ring had come off the sprocked on the fixed side of the bike...this to me seems very strange because i had never had any problems with it when I was riding fixed, it always stayed on...

Anyone have any ideas why this might have happened? Is it a common problem and am I missing something obvious?

So does anyone have a lockring tool and/or chain whip? Otherwise I guess I beg Cavendish, although they might well say no since I will not be buying anything from them :S

you put it on with lock ring tool?

you reckon that will get it tight enough that I won't need a lockring? (well I suppose if you have a spare one it seems you don't need it!)

Does anyone in brixton have a chain whip and lockring tool? And even better will invest a bit of their time to help me use them to fix my wheel. I would buy but I don't know if I will need them again, I am not yet sure if the changeover from ss will be a lasting one. I am in brixton/work at UCL near Euston, but will travel!

Does anyone in brixton have a chain whip and lockring tool? I bought a new wheel with fixed hub and need to secure the sprocket... will be my first fixed wheel (ss before...with 2 brakes ;) )...here's hoping don't f it up and remove the threading....
