Thanks for the replies guys...
@asm - no, the seller doesnt insist I go through Condor. Curious to know why you think the cromo route is a better option than some schtonkin carbon numbers.
@briankwan - yep... would happily do this, but I've not seen any with a 1 1/8 steerer in my travels. Does such an animal exist?
@50/14 - Jesus christ!

Hi all,
Been lurking on this forum for a while but now i need some advice on forks - had a search but couldnt find too many threads with info.
I've just purchased a new frame from the bay to replace the old Raleigh frame on my conversion - the thing handles like a wet piece of soap. The new frame is a Schwinn Madison (yes, I got dazzled by the decals) and the listing indicated that it was frame and fork. I think I paid a little over the odds for it relative the the RRP, but was reasonably comfortable with the deal. Turns out that contrary to the listing there is no fork included. Contacted the seller who directed me to Condor for a replacement and we'd negotiate a price reduction (or full refund). Not ideal as I like the original cro-mo fork, but im keen to come to a resolution rather than send it back.
Anyhoo, Condor stock the 1 1/8 carbon fork from the Lavoro for £80. I've seen some other bits and pieces around for a bit less but i reckon i can negotiate the reduction relative to the fork so im more inclined to go for a better quality item without going overboard - I mean its an entry level frame... Needs to be a straight fork or minimal rake. Also, it must look like a donkeys cock.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. In addition, please stand me up when you see me lying on my side at traffic lights.
Sorry for bumping the old thread.
Cheers all
Balk
oh, and Slaytanic if I had a lizard kicking around do you think I'd be building another bike???
