Sorry, but this is utter nonsense. Completely white bikes are not the sole property of the Ghost Bikes movement. Ghost Bikes as a phenomenon are not nearly widely known enough by the general public (or even a good deal of cyclists for that matter) for the majority of people to get confused in the first place. This smacks of good intentions and a great idea (Ghost Bikes) turned 'worthy' and 'holier than thou'. And if and when people do generally speaking know what a Ghost Bike is it should be fairly obvious to them that the white bike stuck up outside a thrift shop is simply a white bike...
To start trying to claim this sort of thing as intellectual property for a movement that started with a piece of street art is overly sensitive in the extreme. What if Charge produce an all white bike? White seat/stem/rims/hubs/frame/forks/etc. Would that also be out of order and in some way disrespectful but only when these bikes were chained up? Where do you draw the line? What you're suggesting here is some form of censorship...
Yep... its a white bike.

Not true, unipack wheels are singlespeed, there is no fixed option without buying a new hub/wheel.
These second generation thingos which that well-intentioned lad posted in the ebay finds thread are advertised with a "Flip flop hub; fixed gear and Freewheel"
The name "Unipack" is not mentioned anywhere on the ebay ad though but I remember the original ones said unipack and were only freewheel.
Maybe these jobbies are made by a different mob?

Cyclists rammed by drunk hoons at major raceBy Mark Buttler
October 20, 2008 12:01am
Article from:A CARLOAD of hoons deliberately rammed a group of cyclists on the way to the start of yesterday's Around The Bay In A Day ride in Victoria - Australia's largest cycling event.
Ten riders were left cut and bruised on the road as the car sped from the scene.
One of the riders, Geoff Oxford, said it was lucky none were killed.
They were riding in a pack on Nepean Highway at Mt Eliza when they were struck at 3.50am (AEDT).
The group of Mornington Peninsula riders left home early to ride towards the city.
Mr Oxford said the group first noticed the carload of hoons when they drove past and yelled abuse through some kind of loudspeaker.
"They yelled out, 'W-----s'. They said, 'Bloody bike riders, we're going to kill you bastards'," he said.
The hooligans drove ahead before approaching from the opposite direction five or 10 minutes later and veering into the path of the riders.
Mr Oxford estimated the car was travelling at 60km/h.
"He came out of nowhere," Mr Oxford said.
"It was definitely intentional. They were obviously drunk. They thought they'd give a bunch of blokes on bicycles a hard time."
A stubby flung from the car shattered and caused another rider to fall when his tyre punctured.
The road rage attack caused thousands of dollars in damage to the bikes.
Police are investigating the incident, which happened between Mt Eliza Way and the Old Mornington Rd.
Mr Oxford said the car was a late '80s or early '90s green Ford Falcon with a malfunctioning tail light.
Around The Bay In A Day - Australia's biggest bike event - suffered a second blow when a cyclist was critical injured in a fall.
The 43-year-old was injured when he collided with his friend on a downhill section of the Nepean Highway at Frankston at 12.30pm.
Ambulance Victoria paramedic Andrew Burns said they came off their bikes at speed.
"The man landed head first on the road, suffering serious injuries," he said.
Paramedics fitted the man with a neck brace.
"Intensive care paramedics then gave him a combination of drugs to sedate and paralyse him, effectively putting him into an induced coma.
"We then inserted a breathing tube into his lungs, to breathe for him."
The cyclist was flown to the Alfred hospital.
More than 16,000 people took part in the event. Courses ranged from 50km to 250km. -

do they have to justify it then? i just thought people bought them if they thought they were good value, and didn't if they didn't.
Well, each to their own, but i'd find it difficult to pay a $300 premium for a bike thats been around the same price point in their product line for 2 years without knowing what im getting for my money. I have the 07 (well, bits of it anyway). I wouldn't upgrade on the basis of banana yellow.
But yeah, Im sure they will sell bazillions of the things to folk who think they are good value.
Irrespective, I fucked up cos its an Australian website so presumably the price is in AUD anyway.
