Okay this is the same night ride me and jonny did the other week in the north downs.
train from waterloo is at 7.30pm to effingham junction (usually platform 3 and about £8 return)
ride is approx 30 miles takes 2hr 45 mins with a couple of 5 min stops
Loads of hills and vert tiring
must be back for last train from effingham at 11.30pm or it's a 20 mile ride home
have decent lights because it is very dark with trees overhanging country lanes and you might not want to be too close on the down hills and there might be some distancing on the uphills
Hopefully jonny will post the map when he reads this.
see you there

Top ride everyone!! Should never have been with the fast group and apologies go out to that elite bunch who rode flat out but had to do a fair bit of waiting. big thanks to Claus for getting three punctures and allowing me to catch up and catch my breath.
Great feeling getting to the top of the dyke and sinking some pints. respect to Max for looking out for everyone and respect to all those who went for a swim. -

Can only add to the superlatives that jonny boy has already laid on you. What more could you ask for? empty roads, stunning countryside and plenty of decent climbs. 80% of which are long and gradual with 20% requiring some dig deep guts and determination cuz of the steepness. No other route gets you stronger and fitter as fast as this one. For those of you who did the Dunwich, you all know how cool it is riding through the countryside at night. Now add on riding through forests and pine tree tunnels while going up and down the highest hills in the south of England.
We will do this in the day time one weekend soon and that might be a good time to check it out if you don't consider yourself to be a climber.

thanks for the ride guys. obviously it was great to ride with jonny boy but having a group of wise-crackers to hide behind when the going got tough was awesome. Just saw Tommy on the itv clip and i can't believe it was the same guy riding those last 20 miles with me. i quote "it wasn't too much of a challenge" now this guy carries his balls around in a f***ing wheelbarrow and we've just got to admire them!! lol
try to get to the station a good 15 mins early to get tickets and make sure we are first on what can be a busy train
