Good morning sports fans,
I've got a Raleight Team Banana bike up for sale. it's a 23" frame from the 80's with considerable rusting. Original steel rims and tyres, front, rear and lever Shimano brakes in working order. ITM eclipse Stem and Prima handlebars. Clip pedals and no saddle.
Who will give me £40 ONO?

This will not work if your stem bolt has a nut on the end rather than a threaded insert in the casting but if your stem is suitable it helps.
Take the bolt out of the stem.
Insert the bolt from the reverse side until it just starts coming through the small gap between the two halfs (if you get what I mean).
Place a five pence peace in the the gap and carry on screwing the bolt in.
This will allow you to spread the stem open slightly. Obviously do not try and open up the stem too far as it is aluminum but it leaves you hands free from having to use a screw driver in one hand.Great, i've been fighting to get the drop bars out out of my nitto stem. This should help.
The bars also have got brakes attached and I can't seem to get these off, they are shimano from the mid 90's. there doesn't seem to be any screw to loosen. How are these brakes removed?

get a double fixed hub as you can always add a freewheel, but if you want to swap to fixed, it's sorted.
roberto has some good value hubs on the bay

What about spokes? Different radial diamiters and lots a information I can't get my head-round. Do you lads have suggestions as to a spec and merchant?
Chee-ars.

Hi Dogsballs,
I'm a beginer to bike mechanics so don't know much.
Would you be able to build a front wheel and a rear wheel for me? I have a hub for the front and will be purchasing a rim this week. I need to locate a rear SS hub and need some help with choosing spokes for both front and rear.
If possible I'd like a sort of tutorial so I can try building wheels in the future.
I read the guides online but would definately understand a practicle lesson more clearly.
What say ye?
