Rather bling offering from argos £9.99
But if you've got your heart set on a D-lock, they do have a "U-lock" not a mini, but it does come with lots of handy mounting options.

Is there an FAQ section for newbies anywhere? Had a sqiz and coudn't find it
Like:
How do you ride a fixed-gear around the corner without the inside pedal twatting the ground putting you on your arse.
What sort of ratio?
Straps or clips?
Where is the search facility for answering all of my own questions?
What's wrong with mud guards?

(I'm new to this fixed/ss thing and ignorant of components and prices -and broke, but most importantly currently without a bike, so forgive me if offer is a little insulting.)
If £200-£250 is not totally unreasonable, I'll offer you £200 if it's in need of a little tlc or £250 if's good for the road with a fair few miles before replacing anything.
Assume it's good for a 6' er, what are the gear's like for a newbee (who's used to riding a high-geared 26 inch hybred quickly)?

I'm new and having similar quandaries as tombola, (apart from the thigh thing), basically I need to bite the bullet, stop being a pussy and get me a fixed wheel or flip flop. Only reservation is about getting off at the lights sharpish like, no-one seems to have answered that one, is it obvious somethnig needs to be sacrificed to have a high powered fixed wheel? A slow start? Is this also why fixers are more likely to cruise up to and then jump lights?
andries as tombola
went for a spin on my first single speed that I pur-chased this morning. (OTP charge plug). Having never seen one on the road, within 30 mins one pulled alongside me. Matey on the charge plug with scruffy grip-tape, I said "nice bike". Spotted.
