I was on a blue Planet X with TT bars. Didn't get round. I'd been ill for a few weeks previous with Campylobacter and not really recovered enough. Fell apart after leaving Eskdalemuir and struggled with even the gentlest climbs so turned around at Gretna and headed back slowly.
Ended up doing just 200k. Was kind of feeling better after a couple of long stops on the way back but there was no way I would have gotten around.Mrs. TSK's first attempt at a 600 and it didn't go too well. She ended up calling for a pickup at the top of the road to Johnstonebridge.

"no arrests have been made"
ffs
I'm not sure what you're expecting here but unless there is clear evidence at the scene of criminality or an indication that a potential suspect is a significant flight risk then there is no justification for police to arrest a drive at the scene of a collision.
No arrest isn't an indication that the police think the driver is innocent but that they want to investigate further before they determine what charges, if any, they wish to pursue.
A default practice of arresting drivers is unnecessary and opens the police force up to being sued for unlawful arrest.
The police can still make an arrest later on when they have sufficient evidence.

GC contenders don't win on their own. It's as much about the team that is built around them as it is about the leader's abilities. Teams know full well if there is going to be a TTT. How they build their team is a reflection of their strategy for handling the skills needed to do well in that stage.
Importantly, I think this same approach has a lot to do with why Sky are currently dominating at the Tour. They're building a team solely focused on getting one person to yellow jersey for Paris. Pretty much all of the other GC teams are mixing it up with some sprinters and letting people go for the polka dot jersey. If they really want to beat Sky then they're going to have to do one of two things. Either play exactly same game and hope to do it better or do something radically different as a long shot.
