Having ridden around some very poor roads I would advise the comfort of alu is worth it. I've change from my steel B125s to alu bars recently for the added comfort. You will only really notice the difference between the alu and steel when climbing or big time sprints.

Noone does alu better than Cannondale.

I've never had any problems with Contis, but I keep hearing about them only being for lightweight riders and going above a certain weight is a no no.

I thought for the UCI Record you had to use a steel bike, that is made of carbonfibre tubing. The rear wheel weighed 3.2kg. Talk about flywheel effect. Though I'm thinking the doping Ondřej Sosenka was doing probably helped him beat Boardman's record more than anything.

You know what would be cool, is if you recommend a suitable BB for use with the chainset since there is so much confusion over the taper required. I happen to know the Stronglight JP400 110mm bottom bracket you see gives an almost perfect chainline. Just out by a fraction.

You are welcome to try. Like I say the best they would offer me was about £165 and that probably because I was buying a chainring as well.

Unless they specifically want to get rid of the 170mm cranks you'll probably end up with the same price.

Order it and you will get an email about how that is the incorrect price and that is less than trade price. They will then offer you them for £165 as a good will gesture.

I should know, I ordered a DA chainring and 165mm cranks from them two months ago at £136+50 for the chainring then two days later got an email telling me the pricing was all a big mistake. Then instantly updated the pricing.

A decent price would be cool. Cyclestore is selling them for £190 which is just plain crazy.

144BCD DA chainring at a decent price would be cool. The jump by £25 everywhere is a bit hard to swallow and more than the 25% max predicted.
