I have flights booked back to UK on Monday (via Germany, then Switzerland, from US) but am leaning towards cancelling. I'm vaxxed (boosted even) but I worry with omnicron. I would have to do a total of 5 tests during my trip and any one of those positive would a) isolation and b) well cause massive disruption to the flights.

That said, I've not seen family in forever (yay covid)... but I just keep thinking I should cancel and wait till later in 2022 instead... thoughts?

when living in Munich I had winter tyres on my RWD BMW and never used chains. That said there were a few times in rural Austria it would have helped!

I do want to keep the boot pretty tight and not impact the stiffness at all. I'm not really a tourer / blackcountry / off pieste skier, mostly ride around on a pair of Volkl Racetiger GS in Europe. The concern is pressure on the plate at the ankle and annoying the life out of me.

Guess I really need to get walking first, then I'll stick my current boots on a see what they feel like

yeah I'll give that a go before buying anything this season for sure. I've never molded the insides (or outside) of my current boots. They are Salomon X Pro 120 which i like, but pretty old now (16/17 model)

anyone done a fully custom boot liner? I broke my ankle 3 weeks ago and now have a plate+screws in it. Obv. not going skiing soon, but I worry the plate might be annoying in my normal boots. I've been considering for years a proper custom liner just never done it.

I was wondering about the license key .... if I do a clean install but I've lost my Win 10 Pro key, will it activate as long as I use the same MS login that my Win 10 uses? obv. it's replacing my Win 10.

So this is going to sound a bit #1stworldproblems but here goes. I have a Chomebook Duet tablet thing, which is quite nice but damn it's slow. ChomeOS still doesn't work right and really all I want is a tablet to read comics, occational websites and watch videos on.

I'm a bit underwhelmed with the iPad choices right now. Obv. the iPad pro has issues with the OS it's using (and way over kill for my needs). I was hoping the iPad refresh would come with an A15, or A14 at least, but they slapped a years old A13 in it. Then there's the mini, sure state of the art hardware but fucked up screen and I think it would be a bit small for comics....

There is the iPad Air 2020 which looks pretty good, but worry that it's just about to be replaced

really enjoying my 13" M1 ... i know there's a new one coming soon, but this was a work pilot.

Just upgraded my 2017 MBP 15" i7 to a 2020 MBP M1 13" 16Gb/512Gb ... first thoughts were damn this thing is tiny compared to my old laptop. Will take a bit getting used to the smaller screen.

That said, damn this thing is FAST and major battery life. I was using it for about 6 hours yesterday and left it over night unplugged, still had 5 hours of battery life to go!

So far, I've not had problem with apps. That said, I basically live in a browser ... I'll need to install some photo apps to see what they act like.

I know there's almost def. new MBP's coming next month, but this is a work laptop on a pilot test phase. It will be at least a year before my company approve these due to all the apps everyone uses.

why not just change the keyboard full stop ? I use MS Swiftkey and Google Keyboard on iOS.

In the end ordered the Anker Soundcore Life Q20's. Figure they will tide him over till I can give him the Bose QC35s

Actually, what would be a reasonable Bose QC35 alternative ? He really would settle for over/on ear (just not IEMs) that work good for meetings. Basically work gave him IEMs and he hates them, and his AKG N60's broke (and they won't repair them twice). It's really annoying as I have a pair of QC35's here I'm not using, but I'm in California and he's in Yorkshire!

Maybe the Soundcore 20 ? .... hmmm I realize I'm kinda talking to myself here but they (Q20)'s look like a good stop gap till i can give him my QC35's later this year (I don't want to post them)
