I ended up going with ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II instead of a normal heatsink. Runs ~75c under heavy load (gaming), and idles around 44c. This is a Ryzen 9 - 5900x (with AMD auto-overclocking enabled, and fans running in "silent" mode, but man they ramp up when needed!)

had that on an older monitor. for a while I just left the monitor on/pc on.

eventually gave up in the end and bought new monitor

I should add my new monitor takes FOREVER to come of standby. and mouse movements won't trigger it. I have to slam keys till it wakes up.

this positive for long time is what is worrying me. US still requires negative test or covid recovery to get in. I'm fine, but still testing positive, and Swiss won't give me a covid recovery letter as I'm not a resident. so kinda trapped here indefinitely....

nope but the plastic gets worn out (and the insides). Esp if you don't keep them right (like buckled up and so on). Constant pressure from skiing but also hot/cold transfers weakens the outer shell after a while

boots... I guess it depends how much you ski. I wore a pair a bit too long, and they actually sheered mid turn at the ankle. Top separated from the bottom. Been skiing a long time so wasn't a problem but yeah do keep checking them and don't assume they will last forever!

My rule of thumb is new boots roughly every 90->120 days of skiing new boot time. For me that's normally every 3 years (but not recently due to covid)

Enjoying Icarus ... it's like space Valheim ... that said jesus the grunt of a PC you need to get 60fps. Ryzen 5900x + 32Gb ram + 3080 FTW and barely hitting 60 fps at 1440p.

I did it, was 30 chf. Got my approval the following day, and the app auto-updated with it. Good for a year. All I did was upload my CDC Covid Card info (plus flights/passport).
