Having looked at your other post (the chrome frame), I think you'll find you need a 1" headset. The sizing refers to the external diameter of the fork steerer tube, not the internal diameter of the headtube.
sure its 11/8" headset? Never seen a 27" frame with 1 1/8"
Ah, OK. Cheers! I was measuring the inside.
Cheers, voidcore will keep an eye out for your post tomorrow.

Okey dokey - frame has arrived so I think I now know what I need...
WANTED:
25mm silver seat post
1 1/8 silver or black threaded headset
Silver handlebars like raleigh north rounder or velo orange belleville (haven't quite decided yet)
Silver deepish rim 700cc wheelset
16.5mm silver chain set
brown leather saddle like brooks bs17
Silver pedals (pref with toe straps)
Front and back brake with long reach caliper (I'm putting a 700cc wheel on 27" frame).
As you can tell I know f*ck all about bikes (and that's considerably more than I knew yesterday) so any guidance would be really appreciated.
Cheers!
PS. Is this the right place for this?

Bought this frame off ebay largely because it was shiny but don't know enough about bikes to satisfy my curiosity about what make/age it is.
The serial is YF831C50630. The heart is on the underside of the down tube.
Cheers!

Would love to build my own bike but currently my know-how extends to fixing punctures and attaching bike computers so I've a lot to learn. Reckon I'm in the right place tho! :)
In a moment of uncontrolled impulse I bought a frame off eBay - looks like I am building my own bike after all. gulp
I've purchased a bicycle maintenance and repair book, confused myself by reading all about chainline, put up my bike for sale and bought some cider. Have I missed anything? ;)

Hello! I'm Sarah. Long time Manchester-resident currently enjoying the leafy environs of Lev/Burnage (I live just off the loop).
I own, but don't ride, a giant ocr 3. Bought it two years ago, fell off it three weeks later. Took a year for the broken wrist to heal but kind of lost interest/nerve/motivation so it's sat untouched for the best part of two years.
Have always loved the idea of riding and maintaining a fixie so now I'm wondering if it is enough of a lure to get me back in the saddle. Would love to build my own bike but currently my know-how extends to fixing punctures and attaching bike computers so I've a lot to learn. Reckon I'm in the right place tho! :)

It's a first build and it's for fun and education, not awards so as long as it rides in a straight line and isn't overly heavy I'm happy. I didn't pay much for it and wasn't expecting an expensive frame to be lurking under the chrome, just wanted an idea of what I would be riding. If the express aim of this project was anything other than to learn how to build a bike and rediscover my interest in cycling I would certainly have consulted the wisdom of these boards. :)
Think I like the porteur style, GA2G. Still thinking it through but that's what I keep coming back to.
Cheers teenslain!
