Morning, got a bit of a problem with the cranks i have. They have sheared threading where the pedals would go and as a result i either can't get the pedals on at all or they go on a little way but completely wonky. Went to bikefix and they reckon they need a helicoil which will cost £80 for both crank arms! Money i don't have.

The guy in Londonfields bikes reckons i could buy a new set of cranks but i wouldn't be able to buy new ones as new track cranks are offset and my old Nerval ones aren't. Are all old track cranks not offset and does anyone have any laying about that i could buy cheaply? Any advice greatly appreciated!

i ended up just buying the tacx one in the end....if only i had some patience.

now to be a real pain....any where on the internet in the UK sell those plastic bottom bracket sleeves? I had the misfortune to melt mine with a blow torch when trying to loosen the fixed cup.
Am sure i saw one ages ago but can't find the page now.

I've got a stronglight french threaded bottom bracket, this might be a stupid question but are all bearing cages the same size? Thought there was something dodgy going on so took off the cranks etc and the cage on the fixed cup side has snapped in half!

i'm looking for exactly the same thing but can only find the Park one with fixed cup one side, pin spanner the other. Since i've had a nightmare getting this off i hit the blowtorch last night managing to set the bottom bracket dust sleeve on fire. I am a fool and it still didn't help me get it off with a massive spanner. Anyone know where i can find dust sleeves, google has not been my friend.

lived in Clapton right by murder mile for three years, it was fine, didn't see anything dodgy, after i'd moved on someone from the house down the street got shot out of a top floor window. i always think Islington is far more dodgy.

bloke in Barclays For Bikes has always seemed pretty nice, though it was the first place i went after having both my wheels stolen so couldn't have thought he was that nice....
