*hey you all.
So we had an epic fail on the birmingham visit due to the other guest refusing to ride in the wet! (I'd already riden one hour into the train station in the pissing rain - so I was pretty miffed at his cancellation) which leaves me to do the route of the planned ride all alone. Ted has gone back to berlin and the other person has gone home now too.
I am pretty open as to what day I can do this and I was wondering if any of you lot would like to come with me? Mostly I am worried that I'll get myself totally lost and never be heard from again. :(Jacqui
*I'd love to go but have work (unless somehow brooks need a delivery).

I'm in the process of building a new stead and recently acquired some lovely bars and some soyo track grips to accompany them.
Riding home on friday night with said bars I was beside myself with glee that my bike was slowly coming together and itching to put the grips on.
How hard could it be!? I tried the washing up liquid approach, after heaving for 15 mins i only got one grip 1/3 of the way on.
I then tried the wd-40 method, at first 1/2 the grip slid on but after 30 mins of pushing and a hernia, only a couple of cm followed. I was uber pissed, I cursed soyo and nitto. With it too late to get hairspray I drowned my sorrow with a nice glass of whisky (nothing special, Grant's).
WAIT A MINUTE!!! I poured the whisky into my grips with a mindless conviction and tried them on the bars - 20 seconds for each grip it took me, 20 seconds! Now not only do my bars look lovely but they smell great too. Next time im going to use a 14 year single malt for better application.

Guy outside of 'A TOO' with a beautiful 50's restoration blue/white crown track frame.
Seriously nice single speed. Didn't introduce myself properly, too busy perving on his bike.Messenjah absailing down the side of a building [obligatory joke about couriers going to any length etc etc etc]
A guy in a blue cap riding a new polished bianchi, drops white tape.
Practicing skids on the pavement at the top of digbeth high street.
I would have chatted but I was all kinds of busy. -

Damn, away also.
Me and Toby were just lulling you into a false sense of security, so come the euros we'll serve your arses on a mallet of fire.
If you do another keep us posted. I'll try to organise one down here, either may or june time in conjunction with a little alleycat (alleykitten? or is that an all female race?). -

If he's the guy who oversaw the shut down ungdomshuset he aint that cool. The city is for everyone not just the architects, planners and politicians.
'Lead by example' is the only viable way to encourage cycling to grow. Investment in the bike communications and networks should be driven by those that cycle rather than a central policy. I read recently that oxford and york have received substantial money from the government, and yet these cities have a well established physical and communital infrastructure. Surely the money would have a greater impact in cities/regions such as ours.As for hills, HTFU.

OI,
Yeah it's in birmingham. Open to everyone [inc. gears].
Not going to be a massive thing (unless there's loads of interest in which case i'll expand the events).
I'm hoping to get lots of birmz/west mids people together and meet with equal amount of hanging out, drinking and riding.
Bike polo - Throw in tourney. London more than welcome [to own us]
We don't have many decent courts - that are regularly free - but I do have a location that might be awesome which i'll reconnoitre properly soon.
More details on each events to follow...
