Sorry, it's Camden Cycles.
They haven't got a clue in there - they'll just try and flog you any old shit, might be worth a try if there are ever any thefts in the area though.

Perhaps over budget at £90, but should be decent...

What is crc? Something road cycles? And what is sjs?
Cheers
Ok - google recognised the abbreviate versions!

the on-one hubs are even cheaper if you don't mind mixing it.
you could go:
on-one rear hub £15
any front hub £10
2x open sport rims from crc £30
dt champs from sjs £18bosh.
Thanks RPM - I'm tempted by the cheap price. I do have some old tubular non-fg NISI/Ofmega wheels that I can rip a front hub out of. Not the best I'm sure, but pretty light.

Theoretically on a budget you could spend:
Hubs £45 (Parkers)
Rims £20 Araya at Herne Hill boot market
Spokes £10 DT light (Parkers)Plus beer money for Small Brown Bike
Not bad for brand new wheels. Thanks 50/14 - Not knowing too much about too much about wheel components, I'm guessing this is a better setup than Kiwi's £75 wheelset - is this right?
Miche small flange hubs laced to:
Mach1 CFX,
Rigida Chrina,
Rigida flyer
or
Remerx taurus or sunbow rims
Single sided hub wheel-set in black or silver.
£75:00.When you mention HH maket - are they selling new bits down there or is it all used?
Cheers

Kiwi Cycles could help I reckon, in Hackney... They do budget Wheel sets:

Hi all
Finding it reasonably hard to get hold of second-hand wheels on a tight budget. Been keeping an eye out here/ebay/craiglist/gumtree for a couple of weeks now.
Can anyone suggest where I might find a decent value fixed wheel/set without paying an extortionate price.
Or, is it cheaper to have one made up? Anyone on here building wheels? Would also like to know if this is a difficult thing to do - I don't have a hell of a lot of experience in building bikes, but am trying to learn whatever I can.
Cheers

Not a BMX shop at all - they sell a variety of bikes.
I have lived in the area for years and usually find going in there an irritating experience. Was in there twice recently (through desperation, as the previous time they were so rude I decided not to go back). To be fair, the last two times they were ok, if not a little patronising. Not the cheapest.
Whatever you do, don't go to Camden bikes in Mornington Crescent - that is a rubbish shop. Looks like it may just be selling a bunch of nicked bikes (it is next to Somers Town estate - sure there is a good supply).

Hey Tynan
Yeah, saw your thread - thought the issue was a little different though. My BB is more old-school (I think). It doesn't come with the notches inside - I have a tool for that type. It just has a lockring, which I removed, and tiny holes on the non-drive side, then very minimal room for a giant wrench on the other. It's not budging, so just wondering if I should bother to buy a pin-spanner, and whatever else I need to get it off as I'm not sure I'll reuse it, or if I should just take it to a shop.

Hi all
First post on here - hoping to get some good advice about maintenance / rebuilding.
Having some problems with removing an old bottom bracket. I've been trying to find which way it is threaded, but can't find out anything about the part. Its stamped "ofmega 36 x 24 f".
I have removed the lock-ring from one side, and am now left with the cartridge (?) with small holes in it, and I'm guessing I'll need a pin-spanner to get it out on that side - is this right? The other side has a minimal space to fit a large wrench, but no other way to grip it.
I've done some searching and have seen various techniques: Bench vice (don't have one); penetrating grease (any idea where to buy decent stuff? I wouldn't know what's good); some kind of home made bolt/washer contraption (didn't understand how this works).
I am trying to put this bike back together for minimal cost, and I'd quite like to do everything myself if possible, but is it going to be less grief + cheaper (once I've paid for tools) to take this to a shop and have them do it?
Any advice very welcome.
Cheers

Any suggestions (sensible, bike related ones preferred) for a decent grease and lubricant?
