Just to note - there is racing every Monday and Wednesday at the track, kick-off around 6.30pm. You need a racing licence for Monday, but you can turn up and race on the Wednesdays (the 'Go Race' races).

That said, there's a lot to be said for having the track to yourselves ... I might even sneak along to the next one ... you'll probably recognise me by my lycra!

I went in there once and once only. I was looking to buy a track bike and when I said I wanted to pay around £500 for something to use at HH, the shop assistant started looking down her nose at me, pointed me at a couple of bikes and then spent her time fawning over some idiot who wanted an all-pink bike he'd never ride for a grand. I walked out and spent £450 on a sweet track bike from ebay. For South London types Brixton Cycles and Edwardes in Camberwell are both great shops.

point taken winston - I think its 20 quid to join VCL. not an option for me though!

RPM - the banking at HH is pretty slack so you should be fine, particularly if you're on 165mm cranks.

You don't have to join VCL to store your bike there. You can just pay them £30 and lock your bike in one of the containers. Talk to Corinne or Dave (the people who take your money when you sign in).

And no, the lock-up spaces aren't insured. You lock up your bikes!
