Hey guys, thought I'd carry on a thread rather then start a new one only to be told 'Search function is a wonderful thing'
I've just bought a Mavic Open Sport rim and On-One double fixed hub. I've put the appropriate info into various spoke calculators (32h 3x) and come back with a spoke length of 293mm. Seeing as I'm obviously going for the cheapest wheel build possible (Rim £14.99 from chainreaction, hub £17 inc p&p) I was hoping to get me some of the ACI alpina db spokes but they come in either 292 or 294mm sizes, do I round up or down? Sheldon says round up so I'm tempted to do this but was hoping for clarification, any help would be muchly appreciated.
Cheers, Bern

Hi new on here.
My first road bike was an old Shorter, prob from the 70's - 80's, had a load of old campy neuvo record (?) on it and either a 531 db frame or columbus. Bought it off a friend of my dads. It was built by a guy called Barry Chick, supposedly a very good frame builder. Anyway, said bike is half way to becoming fixed gear.
I agree, whilst decent electric motors might have an efficiency of 85 - 90% (toolbox) the electricity used to power it more than likely comes from a big gas turbine power station which will have an efficiency of around 50% (I think) giving an overall efficiency (not considering losses in transmission and electric cars just being generally shit) around 42 - 45% which is roughly the same efficiency as a Petrol engine. So no real point (apart from the fact that Gas turbine power stations are a bit cleaner) If you want a green lifestyle, go to new zealand. I think they are the only country with a carbon neutral power plant.
