If you re in tokyo, go japanese. i just picked up a vivalo for £250. max from tokyo fixed gear (google it) was awesome in helping me out although he's moving back to london in 3 weeks so be quick.
another way to do it is to get one off yahoo auction (the japanese e bay) strait from a kerin rider. if you re lucky you can get a complete bike for about £400 although you ll have to change the 16:50 ratio i received to something more sensible.
you ll need someone who can read japanese. to have a peek copy and paste ' 競輪 'the kanji for keirin, into the box on the left of this page: http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/warning, njs frames have gone up in price ridiculously over the past year so buying one straight from a tokyo fixy shop is bloody expensive.
if you wanted a custom frame built from new then max is definately the person to speak to as he s down with most of the major frame builders. you should see the frame the guys at 3rensho GAVE him!

yeah, for a brompton or anything with a hub gear/coaster brake/drum brake. £7 labour + price of tube for a standard flat at most shops.
it was a front wheel (quick release) and it was brought home in an ahem... car.
i m sure it's what they re told to charge, but it doesnt man i have to like it. lets shake up the bike shop establishment man. power to those who can't build a wheel! i ll probably just skulk back to new zealand though

and by the looks of your photo you lock it so thoroughly on the street. or does everyone in london use two locks nowadays?
