Hi, i've got a cassette hub that needs single speedinged, there aren't any sprockets on there at the mo. I'm happy to buy a cog but i'm wondering whether anyone is able to to take off the cassette as i don't have the tool, and possibly even set me some spacers. :)

Quill stems fit threaded forks and headsets, usually 1". I am yet to hear of a 1 1/8" threaded fork or headset. I have a rather ugly 1 1/8" A-head stem that you are more than welcome to for the price of free. If you were to flip it upside down in poor light; it might look like a quill stem to a short sighted man.

did you get a frame in the end then? you probably need an inch stem if its a quill.

This is for a different build to the dawes one.

Building a bike for a friend, he's new to cycling so wants to go ss for now (the fact that he fell of my fixed 3 times on the way to the shop also added to his decision). Were on a very tight budget so i've put target prices for each part but obviously happy to take anything for lower than specified (if there is a lower) I know its hopeful but thought i might as-well give it a try...

1. Rear Hub - 32h, 120mm with freewheel (£15) + someone to fit the hub to my rim

2. Crankset - square taper, preferably 165mm but beggars cant be choosers (£20)

3. Stem - 1/1-8 quill stem (0-£5!?)

4. Bars - preferably bullhorns (or chopable drop downs) (£5)

Let me know if you've got anything that might help :)

32 holes, 120mm spacing and freewheel. The cheaper the better. Flip flop's good, ive seen people say that on-one do a fixed/fixed hub for £15 which will work with a freewheel but on their site it seems to actually cost more like 30.

Also wanted: someone to build my wheel with it :)
