Good afternoon,
Was just walking home from work and came across a little cycle repair shop tucked into the arches between london bridge and tower bridge road.
It's called Druid cycle repairs, a rather jaunty looking affair. There was a large collection of tires outside and a grubby chap in overalls sitting outside the door.
I asked him about my bike as I need the rear re-spaced a little or some spacers for the axel. He said that it was no bother and he could bend it with his bear hands, "like alexander the strong"
Not sure I want him bending my bike about too much, but his place did seem busy and had the look of a real hands on workshop. Reminded me a bit of recycle in Leeds when it was being run by Morris if that rings a bell with anyone.
Just wondering if anyone had been there and what they thought of it? I didn't go in but might bob back tomorrow and have a closer look.
Not much on the internet about it that I could find, just a few small articles and a defunct web page
http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/4534 (the one with the little hat on is the one I was chatting to)
Any info much appreciated!
Cheers, Will

Hi Clubman, hows it going?
I've just moved back to london and am pretty keen to get involved with some of the forum rides again, these rides were gret fun a few years ago
My parents live in Berkhamsted and its a lovely place to cycle.
Unfortunately can't make this weekends ride but if your doing any others I'd love to come along, and meet up again!
Cheers

You've probably got one by now, but... I eventually plumped for the Helsport Ringstind 2 man. I got it a bit cheaper than list, but it was still a fair whack.
I used it for my solo trip around New Zealand last summer (their winter). It was increadibly light, and once I got used to setting it up properly, it was a great in all sorts of conditions. The 2 man was nice and roomy, which meant I could have all my panniers in from out the rain, and still have room to wriggle a bit in my sleep. I was also able to sit up in the tent when it was raining and cook in the porch area.
It's really lightweight which is a bonus on those long up hill days, and the selling point for me was its superior length ;) I'm about 6'5 and I could lay comfortably in it with out the sleeping bag hitting the ends.
I also thought about the Saunderson Spacepacker or jet packer, as well as the hilleburg Akto. Can't wait to get out on another adventure!
Cheers, Will

Sorry, forgot to say I've been out of the loop, price wise, and haven't really bought or sold anything post recession. I'm looking to make some space, so if anyone fancies any of my goodies then just send me a message. I'm also no photography maestro, and most of the things do look nicer in real life.
Thanks again, Will

Hi, haven't been on the forum in ages as I've been studying hard and traveling around. Was sorting through some of my bike stuff the other day and fun some things that I no longer need.
1.** Dirty Harry Left hand leve**r, Black and silver, connected to a Campagnolo caliper. Both in great condition. Paid £40 on here years ago, and never actually put it on a bike, as the intended project broke. asking £40 or offers
Shimano top tube clips, great for running bake cables through. quite hard to find. Not really sure what to charge, maybe £6?
Selle Itallia saddle, blue, genuine gel. used but in good condition £15 or offers
Look delta pedals, black, used but work fine. Thread intact, bearrings fine, just a bit scuffed up £8 or offers. Sorry no pictures as of yet but I can put some up if anyones interested
3x Cinelli stems, 100mm, 130mm, 130mm, all in good condition, a few marks, but pretty good above the insertion line. The short one has got a chip under the horizontal section of the stem which isn't very noticeable . £10 for the short one, £15 for the others
Suntour Superbe track pedals in nice condition, with Medium christophe toe clips £35 or offers?
SunLine lock on grips White. Also for the project bike that broke, so never used. A tiny bit of dirt on them which cleans off. £6 ono
I'm in Leeds at university, so its probably best if I post these down. Not sure how much it'll be but probably only a few quid depending on where you live and if you want any of it particularly quickly.
Cheers, Will

Up for sale again. Sorry to mess about, I ended up going abroad before anything was finalized last time, and as such, the bike has been sitting in the garage ever since. The specs are the same, but I'll be keeping the wheels and seat post now.
To reiterate, you'll get the frame, forks, headset, miche cranks, bottom bracket, chain, stem, and handlebars.
The bike is now at my girlfriends basement in Hammersmith and she is happy for someone to pop round and collect it. Evenings probably best.
Now asking £220 or offers?
Cheers, Will

Hi, its been a while, but I've just got back from a trip which took me to LA, Samoa, New Zealand and Hong Kong. I did the whole thing with bicycle in tow flying AIR NEW ZEALAND.
I packed the bike in a large see through plastic bag, as sold by Wiggle, with a bit of pipe insulation around the tubing, and they were really good about it at each leg of the journey.
They ship sporting equipment for free, and so I didn't have to pay a penny extra when heading East. They were a bit unsure at Samoa airport, but I showed them a print out of their guidelines that I had highlighted and they soon came around.
flying to Hong Kong from New Zealand and then Hong Kong to home, the baggage alowance is less but they give you an extra 10kg of baggage free for a bike.
All in all a very friendly and helpful airline.

Morning everyone!
Thanks for all the help, Chaplain, that second find looks really nice, ideally I'd be looking for something a bit larger but it does look great.
Snoops, I'd love some more details about the bike, and if you've got any pictures then all the better. Sounds like what I'm looking for. Would you be interested in money or a trade? If you'd like to trade I can try and take some pictures of some of the bikes or parts that you may be interested in. Thanks again, Will
Tour du hk, thanks for the offer, but it sounds just a bit too small. I usually ride 62cm to 65cm+ bikes. Thanks for getting in touch though.
Cheers all, Will

Hi everyone, hope your all well!
I'm the mist of exams but looking forward to an upcoming bicycle tour of New Zealand this summer. Trouble is I don't really have a suitable bike.
I'll be camping out in the wild for about a month, and considered doing it on my road bike but I'm not sure all the gear and tent is going to fit in a saddle bag and would love the versatility of a good proper tourer.
I just missed a claud butler Dalesman today on e-bay, because I couldn't get on the net.
Anything considered between 24 and 26 inches.
I've got various nice bikes I'd be willing to trade, or campagnolo bits, (c-record chain set sherif stars ect.) Or if you prefer cash then thats fine too.
Let me know what you've got. Thanks everyone.
Cheers, Will

Thanks everyone for the help, I'll get investigating! Those clips look perfect, hopefully the bikes compatible (in storage at the moment as I've just moved house)
Thanks for the info Bainbridge, I had had a look at the Carradice bags, and know they get good reviews on here. My only concern is having all the weight on the seat post?
You've shown me up there Bombadil, I did do a little search but it wasn't nearly as fruitful. Thanks for the link though, some more good information there.
There are 'other' ways to carry stuff on a bike with no rack mounts. ;)
Haha, I was following your work a while back, are the bags now in production? How did the Dynamo go?
Cheers, all!

Hello everyone,
Hope its all going well!
I'm trapped inside revising, but would love to be out enjoying the best of the weather/ tour de France or Cricket! I have got a good incentive though, as if I pass I'm off to New Zealand on my bike.
However, at the moment despite having accumulated a small collection of bikes, non of them have pannier rack islets! I am hoping that the amassed wisdom on this ever generous forum may be able to help me with my current dilemma! As I really need a reliable way of carrying all my gear.
I've read about some racks that are mounted on the axel of the rear wheel? Are this any good? they sound a bit risky to me. Or are there any other options I should be exploring?
Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and start looking for a bike with specific eyelets and with all the long distant tourer bells and whistles?
Any help gratefully received!
Cheers, Will -
I managed to squeeze into some 52's, last chance before considering a custom shoe price wallop!
Luckily they fit well length ways, just a bit roomy above the foot. I'll have to see if I can get hold of any of these innersoles. Do these innersoles continue up to 52?
Sidicafe.com sorted me out sharpish. I order them last minute, just before packing off to John O'Groats and luckily they came iexpress, with a day to spare. No half sizes though

As the title says really, I think they are quite a rare thing, I don't know of any others apart from the slice?
Any colour, any style, as long as they are longish, i.e. preferably not chopped and flipped drops.
I have handsome rewards waiting in the form of parts or cash.
Thanks for you help

Wow, thanks for getting in touch guys! All sounds great, have you got any prices? I am really keen to get the bike set up and running. Pifko, are there any chainrings on the crank?
Sounds cool Organicoragin, how much are you looking for.
RetroDiCorsa, sounds pretty perfect, are the rear mech and derailure 9 or 10 speed, would also depend on price but it all sounds great.
Thanks everyone, Will

Soichiro Honda had this very problem ( although not with easyjet) on one of his regular jaunts to the the Isle of Man TT. He was a huge motorcycle fan, and had bought lots of carburetors and other go faster bits and bobs at the TT, and intended on taking them back to Japan so he could "soup?" up his own fly boy whip.
When he got to the airport to catch his flight back to Japan, he found that his luggage was well over the maximum allowance! and the lady at the desk was trying to slap him with some excess charges. However she hadn't reckoned on Mr. Honda's cunning! He opened his suitcase and started removing all his clothes, leaving only the motorcycle parts in the case. He then proceeded to put all his socks on,one on top of another. Followed by all his shirts, trousers and jumpers. (I don't think Mr. Honda took his trousers off to put all his pants on, although he could have? Cheeky Mr. Honda).
The once diminutive Mr. Honda now looked like his automotive friend the Michelin Man. He picked up the suitcase and insisted that the lady weigh it again. This time the case was under the weight limit, and the check in lady amicably informed him that his bag would be checked and he was free to proceed to terminal.
He probably looked like a bit of a tit and must of had his little on board cooling fan set to the max all the way to Japan, but Chapeau for his quick thinking.
So if they get arsey about the heft of your luggage at the airport, then pull a Honda on 'em ^^!
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I'll have a look and try and find something more helpful!! :)
