I have a book about cycling across canada with all the maps and routes etc, was thinking of doing it in a few years but don't think its going to happen now.
I much prefer the idea of riding in europe or flying out there and riding home now. I do not like the idea of having to buy some kind of mountain bike or hybrid.

Sorry to bring back this thread but I was wondering, do these hubs actually use sealed cartridge bearings? I've looked at the spec etc and it says they have sealed bearings, but my existing wheels also say they have sealed bearings, which turned out to be cup and cone with a bit of rubber over it...

Been watching this today, pretty interesting but I don't really like the whole world record side of it. Seems to be more about the record than the cycling. Not sure about his Rohloff, would have been easier to use normal gears and fix them with normal tools you carry. Rather than being stuck with a fucked Rohloff in some random desert somewhere.
I read a book by Alastair Humphreys, who also cycled round the world. Only he took 4 years to do it. Sounds like he had a much better time, Staying with strangers, spending time in each country etc...

This is a good idea, but I'm not sure if it will fully deter retards. With this system it's only a matter of time before new members can be full members. They don't have to earn it.
I was on another forum a while back, trials-forum.co.uk and they have a similar system in place. All new members get put into a pre-members forum, away from the main threads, where they can say what they like and start new threads etc.. Then every so often a moderator goes through the threads posted and picks out people to be validated based on punctuation, spelling, if the post is worth posting etc... Once validated they are full members.
Might be a bit of effort but it does work.

Probs going to buy a new halo aerorage wheel but just checking here to see if anyone is selling one cheap?
Im after a rear wheel with sealed bearings and fixed threads. 120mm Spacing. Will consider anything as long as its not falling apart and is cheaper than £68.
Not in London so needs posting too.
Thanks
Phil
