I was going to buy some new strings as my guitar is filthy and plays horribly at the minute but thought, as they are only 6 months old, I'd try cleaning them first.
The internet suggests WD40 but can you use anything else? Linseed oil? Lemon pledge?
Also, how often do people replace their strings? I seem to go through an awful lot, probably because I never clean them...

Haven't been keeping up with this thread so apologies if this has been covered.
Has anyone on here been trying to solve the GTA 5 Mt. Chilliad mystery?
Was interesting at the beginning but nothing has been found for months now. I don't think there's anything to it, which is a bit annoying after all the searches in the previous games. They could have put something good in..

Anyone have any recommendations for a "good all round" tripod for around £100
I've been looking at the redsnapperUK tripods
I have a redsnapper tripod, paid about 60 quid for it. My only other tripod experience had been with a plasticy £10 job that wasn't fit for anything, but the redsnapper is really good. Easy to use, good size both extended and closed away and is strong enough to use with a 5d and big zoom lens. It was even strong enough for someone to use as a step stool one time, still works.

Always wanted one of these.. was put off with the lack of zoom though.
GLWS
No zoom was actually one of the reasons I go this. Never looked back, don't think I'll ever use a zoom again. Primes force me to think a lot about composition, which has improved my photography no end.
Bit of a queue for this now, have replied to all pm's

Fuji X100 for sale - http://www.lfgss.com/thread118182.html

Selling as I just got a big DSLR and can't afford 2 cameras.
Fuji X100, bought brand new by me from my local camera shop about 6 months ago. Comes with everything it did when new, strap, cables, manuals etc. mostly unused. Boxed as well but you don't need a photograph of a box. It also comes with an official Fuji spare battery, Manfrotto padded case that fits the camera very well, and a cheap eBay lens hood adapter/fake Nikon lens cap.
The actual camera is in excellent condition, no dust or scratches to any of the glass. The main marks on it are on the original lens cap (it keeps falling off which is why I bought the fake Nikon one). There is also a small mark to the rear left next to the usb port. I don't know when this was done but it doesn't affect the camera, just a mark in the leather/plastic/whatever it's made from.
Looking for £350 posted.

Anyone have any eperience of using a Canon FD to EF mount adapter type thing? Specifically the slightly more expensive one (£30ish) that has a correcting lens and electronic mounting stuff to get metering working?
Thinking of getting a 5Dmk1 and wondering if its worth trying to get my old FD primes working with it.

Been fairly obsessed with trying to photograph the stars the past few years. Living in the centre of a city and not having a car isn't making it easy. Found myself in the middle of nowhere over the weekend during a freezing cold but clear night. It was for a wedding so I only had 5 minutes but I managed to take this. You could just see the milky way with the naked eye.
The photo isn't great but its the best I have managed. My only camera right now is a Fuji X100 which is not great for this sort of thing meaning I couldn't get and of the earth in the shot. Also didn't have a tripod so just put the camera on a fence pointing upwards.
Think it was a 15 second exposure (cant do longer because of the 35mm focal length), ISO 2000ish, f2.0.
Really tempted to get a DSLR with a superwide and make a trip somewhere specially for this sort of thing...
