new bike's pushing $450. my beater is about $60. new bikes worth about $800. when i get my campy record cranks in i'll have spent about $700 on it.
i have a super beater that is going to be a fun project, but the weight of the frame (and the fact its like way to small for me) has me hesitant of dropping to much money into it. so far i have 30 into it for new wheels.

- The vulnerability of cyclists to be recognised by affording
them the same rights as pedestrians, including but not limited
to the ability to cross roads according to safety, not traffic
lights.
i find that counter productive. people worked pretty ahrd to get bikes classified as vehicles here, and though often people don't realize it's illegal to ride on the sidewalk, as well as unsafe by perpetuating the myth that cyclists don't have rights to the road it endangers more cyclists lives.
by saying theyre no more than pedestrians this would eliminate the ability to ride on the road in theory. just saying. this is a bad idea.

there was a s-works that came in the other day that i got to take for a spin. it was far from a relaxed geometry.
other than that i unno. i liked the pre made models. linking them to a city shows they'e paying attention to the type of riders in each city (i'm not sure about london, but i know the chicago is set up like the majority of the chicago kids bikes, and almost everyone i know in nyc rides short bars.) -

my friends bike was stolen whilst on a day trip out of town, and we posted flyers saying $600 reward (negotiable) , no questions asked, please call --****. a kid called and said "i was just walking home from work, and snagged yer bike. i feel kinda bad." and gave his info. we went back and my friend offered him $100 since the guy straight up admitted to stealing his bike. The thief said suck off, you said 600. i guess i'm keeping the bike" so my friend beat the fuck out of him and took his bike back.
it was a vry odd couple of trips.

My new Surly has been hanging at the back in the shop because I've yet to build my new front wheel, and i need to tighten the head set better, and replace the star nut and i'm lazy/busy these days. i have a stark white ugly bontrager seat on it and it offended the head mechanic so much he got me a new brooks saddle to put on it.
it's really cool because i get a lot of shit at work being new to the place of a pretty tight knit group of dudes (as well as the only dead serious Fixie rider) it's nice to see that i'm accepted in.
