soperRiva, you could try going to see Graham Anderson at Balance physio in Clapham.

He's the physio who works at CycleFit on Wednesday.

He's good and has a set of rollers at his practice (although you may want to check whether it can accommodate bikes with axle nuts as sometimes that's an issue...)

i can't see any reason why working people should have tax breaks to buy bikes, if you can a afford to buy a 1k bike for £500 then i don't see the need for a subsidy when a £500 bike will get you to work and back (as would a cheaper second hand bike).

I heard from a cycling colleague that there was a rider down on the Upper Richmond Road this morning to the west of Putney.

There were two ambulances and the cyclist was being given CPR. I don't know any more at the moment.

I'm going to buy some later today and ride around town for the rest of the day

Saw a guy wiped out one dark, murky eve last year by a guy from the far lane in oncoming traffic turning across him. Slick looking bike, trendy dark camo gear, but no lights or helmet. I stopped to help, and the driver said to the rider 'If you'd been wearing what he's wearing, I'd have seen you'.

Course it's the driver's fault, but your call if you choose to give them the excuse. I got good lights and a mix of hi-viz and reflective stuff depending on the conditions. But then, I don't look as cool as the guy that got totalled.

Completely agree. Hi-viz clothing isn't cool but it definitely works.

Anything that helps people see you when you're lurking in the shadows in their peripheral vision is to be encouraged.

I've certainly noticed how brightly-clothed cyclists are much more visible - and visible sooner - than their darkly-clothed counterparts regardless of how much they are lit up.

Forcing yourself to wear hi-viz kit can be emotional journey - especially if you are achingly cool - but IMO it's a must.

The bumps in the picture don't look bad so I assume it's a stock photo.

How bad are the real ones?

Now if I could just find a physio right near the British Museum or Covent Garden who understands cycling I'll be sorted for my lunchtime massages when my back is playing up.

The night tour for Alcatraz is supposed to be alright but you'll need to book up in advance

Just passed a rider by the cross-roads at the top of Putney High St

Looked to have a big gash in his right leg - possibly quite deep - but was sitting upright so hopefully ok (rocking backwards and forwards presumably in pain/shock)

Had a big crowd of people around helping and ambulance was on way
