Ah, you've spotted a niche in the market then! I guess theoretically someone could do a basic bike cheap but they'd only do it if there was a perceived mass market, as the only way those FS mountain bikes are done so cheap is that they're made in BIG quantities in countries with cheap production costs and distributed by chains that cater to your average recreational rider/family market - I'm not sure the market for a budget fix would be that big, even though the perception to us in London etc is that there are a lot more fixed bikes around than there were - I think there's a way to go before we get the Emmelle track bike...

No tri-spoke though, unless the tub/pump/tape magically arrives tomorrow. :(
Also, if twin peaks seasons 1 and 2 arrive, i may be late. Also, if my camera arrives, I'll take some photos!
Ah, your life seems mercilessly controlled by the serendipity of the fates that are the UK postal service! Should these capricious comets align in the crucial formation we'll see you down there.

If people keep using bikes for things other than their intended purpose, there'll be anarchy!
If we don't put a stop to it RIGHT NOW, where will it end? People using track bikes on the road?
It's madness, I tell you, madness.
Indeed. As a gentleman pointed out to me at random the other day, 'I notice that your bike doesn't have any gears!'
+1 for Durer - he would have ridden a big-geared wooden bike!
I think the tricks are pretty cool but I guess its a bit like the freestyle skate scene was in the late 80s early 90s - kind of a scene within a scene - most people are impressed by it but prefer to skate street themselves. It's all good tho.

Totally agree, but its not just drivers it brings the worst out in, riding past bermondsey had about 15 little chavs absolutely drench me in water, fucked me right off.
+1 - why does no one walk on the pavements in South London? Coming back down past the oval this afternoon the cricket fans seemed to think all the road's a crossing - camberwell green not much better...
Maybe you should go back with some water balloons SE

Well, I think most of them haven't been outside for about the last 7 months and forget that roads aren't just for walking across or sitting in buses on...seemed that way this afternoon.
AHAA!
the assos was not the wounded party btw PP.. the one I was wearing was rather more upset than the assos would have been..
PJS I'm still up for relieving you of one of the non-offended caps btw

Yeah good call BDW and thanks for explaining the origins of some of the jokes to the newbie that is me. I've been laughin a lot. Also like to give a big +1 to the forum for enriching the world - I've met some good people so far.... Although it does make me spend too much time sitting inside on the computer when I probably should be out cycling...

Yeah, it's everywhere. I saw a car clip a roadie's back wheel the other day on the Old Kent Road (don't we all just love the Old Kent Road?) so I stopped in case the guy needed a witness. Despite the car hitting the bike from behind, the burly 'bloke' driver was trying to pin it on the cyclist - ' you're not meant to overtake on that side are you!' - as he overtook on the right (like normal road users) and was more worried about the scrapes on his bumper than the mangled back wheel of this expensive road bike. Luckily everyone decided to be amicable and go home - the roadie had an arrospok on the front, and I suggested he get one for the back ;-) But yeah, London huh?
A tout a l'heure!
