no such thing as short cuts in london anymore, just different ways to go ;)
+1 in South London - just more annoying or slightly less annoying....anyone got any good routes from peckham to vauxhall bridge/lambeth bridge? - it's gonna be my new work route and first rush hour trial was a nightmare using the main road...

Just realised I'm having a romantic birthday dinner with m'lady tomorrow night, so central beers for me this week... Have fun kidz! :)
But what could be more romantic than the intimate courtyard of the Coach & Horses, lit by the soft glow of various lighters and accompanied by the soothing strains of lockrings being tightened?

Oh man...the motorbike one's at metro' bikes by Vauxhall tunnel isn't it? It's great how ppl always lock their crap hybrid bikes on the fence there too making it almost impossible to get through...Plus the lane throws you out straight in front of the pub the other end of the tunnel with a bollard in the middle - normally packed with ppl outside...I usually stick to the road there

while we're on the topic of crap cycle lanes... that f*cking cycle path that veers you off hackney road to the top of columbia road onto two f*cking blocks of cobblestones. who's cute idea of a joke was that?!!
That's your mistake teddy, it's not a cycle path it's a sprint track for the weekly hipster olympics ;-)

Yeah pajamas, a good thread to get going. My build is starting to look like being all black as i can't think of a better frame colour to go with all the black components I have (any suggestions welcomed!) but does just being all black make it a stealth bike? If so is stealth now looking try-hard in a bad way? I liked the idea of a black bike as being maybe a bit more low key but i guess it could end up looking the opposite....
As for categories, I think they're always going to be pretty fluid, but with overall discernible trends...btw I'm writing this from an austria train station that has wifi - kind of disorientating...

yup, its an overpiced piece of junk.
Instead of wasting £200 on one.
Spend,
£30 on an old reasonably good road frame.
£20 powder coat.
£40 new FSA vero chainset&bb from Pearson
£10 miscellaneous.£100 track wheelset from one-one.
= £200 custom bike, way better than unipack!
Where are you getting powder coating for £20?

Villa-ru, if cyclists didn't take the lane for pedestrians only the cops wouldn't be there in the first place and could spend time elsewhere.....
There is a cycle lane further along the Common. I take it every morning and night. There is no space on the cycle lane Clapham South entrance for cyclists and peds so I am not surprised if there were complaints. If I walk home, I take the path. A cyclist almost went into me on Friday evening, I can't say I liked it.
And to be fair the police was also reminding people that there is a speed limit (I saw a cyclist down in the middle of the common, probably avoided someone and went flying).
If only there were some really wise and official person invested with great powers to control all of the complex intertwined webs of London's transport systems, and make it all clear to us all, surely this sort of thing would no longer be a problem. If only...(sighs)
I was musing on this very thing today - there are some great pubs there but not all have outdoor space - I will have a think for the best one with space for bikes etc. and if it looks like there will be lots of us I could forewarn them...
If the weather's good though (and let's hope it is!) there are a couple of really nice public gardens that could make good ad hoc pubs.
