I've finally got a bike sorted for playing polo and i seriously need to get a mallet sorted out, i've got some piping (32cm long piece of the yellow stuff) if that's enough to get 2 mallet heads out of? then somebody is welcome to have one of them.
Dewi, any chance you can help me get one sorted out if your system is working well...? If you do make a run to Decathlon could you get me a pole i'll refund you for the pole + beers at polo for the help.....
You've not broken yours have you?
I just made the pipe you gave me into a mallet today - sorry!
I've got myself a pretty good system going now so if we can get some more of the yellow pipe and you use your straight-edge-jig-thing to cut them I can drill and countersink the holes the right size for the poles. They tighten up nice and solid and I've got enough dowel, nuts and bolts to make loads pretty quickly. I can get more ski poles from Decathlon this week.

If that doesn't work out Rigida DP18's in silver look quite nice/similar once you get the stickers off, they are machined but unless you run a brake (and by doing so slightly change the colour of the braking surface) they look pretty sweet... and about £20/25 a rim... plus Rigida have some serious heritage (100 years-ish) so i'd expect them to be pretty sturdy..... http://www.rigida.com/eng/produits/race/dp18.html

Yes y'all... Got given 'red light go' & 'fast friday' for xmas, i'm sure i can overcome my righteous ways and make people copies in exchange for beer.... If anyone is interested Pm me... Oh and Red Light Go is loads better than Fast Friday IMO as it's almost 5 years old and before the Pistadex (BSNYC) skyrocketed, and as a result is less hipster heavy....

Not totally sure what the OP after... If you wanna stop quickly and you have a front brake then you use you legs and brake in combination to stop, but the OP seems to be obsessed with 'skidding'... If i ride brakeless i actually try to AVOID skidding, i try to foresee what the traffic/peds are doing ahead of me and ride in a way that takes them into consideration.... And the whole 'getting your balls over the stem' is great advice if you wanna skid as far as possible, but if the aim is to stop then you want as much weight over the back wheel as possible.... Think about it... And although its not the general rule i know people who can ride and skid without clips just fine, it's just very difficult, but these are the same people who ride hills and pop wheelies on 52-16... Chickin.... Go figure...?!
