Me too @KT_Bee, I'm not far from that description either. Hope we both get better asap! x
Looks like a great night ride. Hi to everyone, if I don't make it.

yes - horrible news about that tri swimmer.
The crossing was pretty epic. Left London at 4.30 for an 8am start. We were advised the conditions weren't great - wind and choppy water - but John gave it a go. He managed just short of 14 hrs of swimming which was pretty bloody amazing to witness, considering the wind and waves and a torrential rain and lightening storm later in the day, not to mention the stinging jellyfish that bounced off his body and the fact he had at least another 6 hours left at 10pm due to the changing currents.
Pretty memorable all up. I learnt a lot about crossing preparation and etiquette, about endurance and why people do this and also about care and community in open water swimming.
Also I learnt that I'm crap on boats. It lurched and rolled a lot in those conditions and I struggled with feeling very rough for most of the (25 hour!) day.

Dammit, just saw the time. Seem to be missing this. Caught up with work.
Hearty congrats @OneLessCardigan if I don't make it

I'm def keen for the 3rd swim @pootsmanuva and @KT_Bee - have you booked a spot yet? Or are you just going to turn up?
And you should both come racing at the Serps while it's warm and sunny. There's a 440yard race on tomorrow - it's a great start to the weekend.

Not sure how many of you like open water swimming (and sorry for the late notice) but there's a Thames Tidal Swim on tonight. Meet at the Black Lion in Hammersmith at 18.40, ready to start at 18.55. It's an open swim - you don't have to be affiliated with a club. Just turn up and put your name on a list. It's very social. Less than a mile and assisted by the tide. Gives you a very different view of London. I've done the last few and really recommend it.

Thanks @almac68 and everyone for the ride, company, Serpentine pick-up, snacks and altogether great start to lovely sunny and social Christmas Day. Really enjoyed it!
