I realised that asking to swap a freewheel wheelset for a fixed wheelset might have been asking too much on a fixed gear forum, so have a new proposition:
What I have:
Very nice wheelset, excellent condition, cannondale omega hubs and shimano compatible freehub, Mavic cxp22 rims.
What I want:
A Campagnolo compatible wheelset.
Thanks

I recently bought a carbon road frame. It is a beauty of a frame. Feels really solid but is quite light at the same time. It was a bargain.
Thing is, it was made in the early 90s, but wasn't used very much so it is in good condition. I think the aluminium lugs are quite solid as they don't feel hollow when tapped.
Someone recently warned me about the risk of carbon tubes unbonding from the lugs. I am starting to get worried about that - what if I'm going downhill at 35mph and it falls apart?!
The one small thing i noticed was a bit of bubbling and cracking of the resin (which runs over the aluminium too) at the boundary between the carbon and the aluminium lugs but its only noticeable close up, Can this be fixed? (the aluminium doesn't show any white deposits though so presumably hasn't corroded)
Are my fears irrational as I am getting tempted to get rid of it even though there are no apparent problems! The bike is a Giant 980c... Anyone heard of it? Are there any reported problems with these?
Thanks in advance for any help,

I have been building a new road bike. I had a campagnolo mirage groupset thrown in with the frame, and I'm eventually going to go fixed but for the time being I want to stick with gears.
I have a wheelset which unfortunately has a shimano freehub which won't fit the campag cassette I just bought.
Is it possible to somehow frankenstein the campag cassetee onto the shimano freehub, or will I need a new wheelset?
Thanks in advance.

dude, you're posting on a singlespeed/fixed gear forum, about the fact that the polish on your aluminium lugs for your (geared) purdy carbon road bike isn't quite to your satisfaction? No disrespect, but when the gods (chris, tynan, rpm, asm etc) find out...
quick, edit the post and ask about polishing a steel tracknut instead...:-)
Well I am obviously going to pull it limb from limb and put it back together as part of a single speed project! No, really! I've actually bought quite a few parts that I am switching out to get the bike as light as possible. Now all I need is to decide the gear ratio and buy a new chainring and rear sprockets.

I have just bought a Giant Cadex 980c which is about 10 years old. It is in excellent condition, very few scuffs/scratches as it wasn't used very much and was kept in storage.
I am really happy with it, but a few problems have come to light. Firstly, around the boundaries between the carbon fibre and aluminium lugs it seems that the aluminium has corroded slightly causing slight chips (I don't know if there is a resin covering that has chipped or the aluminium itself). Is it possible to repair and protect these areas?
Thanks

Hi,
I have been looking into charity bike rides and most charities request a huge minimum collection. You can call me cynical, but sometimes I feel that a chunk of the money raised might go into the pockets of the organisers.
To bypass this worry, I'd like to cut out the middleman and organise my own long distance charity bike ride, where 100% of the money will go to a worthy charitable cause.
Where can I find the legal requirements for organising such an event?
Thanks in advance for any help

I have been really indecisive about what I wanted to build my single speed out of. I've finally settled on a vintage frame (531 or similar tubing). However, I want something that is either in very good condition, or has been recently resprayed.
If anyone has one to hand please let me know what you want for it.
Thanks

I might be interested... What condition are the wheels in? Would it be possible to see some photos?
Thanks
