If you decide not to go with gear integrated levers, I have some shimano r600 non-gear levers going. Really light, here are some on chain reaction: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13673

I find people like Schindler and this chap Bartali absolutely fascinating. I really couldn't honestly say what I'd do in their position. But the idea of putting your life right on the edge, risking being executed, to save others is absolutely mind boggling. It's easy to say "yeah I'd do the same" but who knows... I think these were truly open minded people who didn't just follow the rest which sadly happens far too much...
Thanks for the interesting bit of knowledge!

so you "stumbed on somthing intriguing" twice?
Basically, I stumbled across that thread while searching for whether bostik glue would make a good substitute for rubber solution. Noticed a "Tynan", who seems to be quite a discussed individual on lfgss, said "ooooh I'm intrigued!" and made the thread.
...then I thought it probably wasn't that interesting/I haven't been here long enough to be part of the in-crowd who make snarky jokes about this alias or that so I edited to something that I found AMAZING. Though that was yesterday.

Bought this for £60, now it has been stripped of all the stickers using a hairdryer and then a bit of cooking oil to break down the residue. I was in the process of ripping all the gears off. Now she's a very smooth riding single speed soon to be fixie as soon as I find a reasonable wheelset.
There was a big patch of surface rust which I painstakingly sanded off and painted with enamel paint.
Was going to respray but actually the colour and character has grown on me. Plus its less likely to be stolen. There's no rust at all now anyway.

Bloke going eastwards down the hill at Pentonville road, looked across at me while I was going up the hill westwards (both waiting at the lights). About an hour back.
Guy with a grey Rapha top, white bike (didn't catch brand)
Chap with blue top, green bag.
Both going down through St Pancras about an hour ago.I was on a light blue raleigh that I've recently bought, massive frame, all stickers taken off.

Most things I've read say NO to vinegar for descaling coffee machines.
The ones that are suggested tend to be citric acid based which doesn't taint the machine with vinegar.
Puly stuff isn't supposed to be citric acid either so they've got something funkier. Why not just use lemon juice? Theyre pretty full of citric acid. Probably much cheaper too.

What does it say at the top of the document, Singspeed? If there is a name I will do some lookups, see if I can find out more about this chap. It looks like he was called George A Cowell and he was from Coventry, is that right
Yes, that was the name on the top of the document. It must have been put into the seat tube of the bike so it could be recovered if stolen. I've heard that was common practice. It's a good idea tbh.

I just found a rolled up document in the seatpost of my coventry made Stokes bike. It's too small for me so I was stripping some parts off it for a frame Ive just bought:

Here's the bike I found it hidden in:

Interesting stuff! Is this common practice?
