If London Fixed-gear and Single-speed pulls out, count me in for the lever!
-
I have been trying to work out a good way to do this for a while, will probably mess around with it a bit during the summer.
The main problem is putting it somewhere that is hard to remove, but that still has near "line-of-sight" from the antenna to the sky, graphite/steel/alloy tubing is all going to act as an excellent shield and the GPS is not going to get reception.
I recently found a new, very small antenna that I think is suitable, and could be hidden in the base of a saddle/top of seatpost or headset top-cap, the rest of the electronics could be housed elsewhere. -
I have been riding a "shimagnolo" for a while, 9 speed campag with shimano wheelset, works great, but may not be as easy to shift as if it had a campag cassette (doesnt really bother me).
Various combinations work, but it really comes down to the particular gear that you are using.
You can find some good info on the ctc website here http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID= 3946= 3946.
In the event that you dontt have a combination that works well, you can pick up a shiftmate, a pulley system which changes the pull ratio of your derr.
They do a few models allowing you to shift just about anything, with anything, check it out here http://jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm. -

I am at Imperial, if eyebrows has any luck I would be all for the addition of some to the gym.
That said, I have some rollers at home and I have not yet quite got the nack of riding them, need a bit more practice.
Perhaps it would be easier to convince them to get some turbo trainers, or a combination? -

Anyone know about sizing lowpro TT bikes?
I am tempted to buy the bike dogsballs linked to on ebay a few days ago(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ORBIT-RACING-FRAME-531-COMPETITION-STEEL-METALIC-BLUE_W0QQitemZ200213359214QQihZ010QQcategoryZ22679QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQ_trksidZp1638.m118.l1247QQcmdZViewItem) think it may be a bit tiny for me!
I currently ride a 56cm, the specs the give are:DISTANCE FROM TOP TUBE TO CENTRE OF BOTTOM BRACKET SHELL; 60CM
DISTANCE FROM TOP TUBE SADDLE PIN CENTRE TO STEERER TUBE CENTRE; 52CM
DITANCE FROM BOTTOM BRACKET SHELL CENTRE TO STEERER TUBE CENTRE; 55CM
centre of seat tube where seat pin fits in to the point where it meets the steerer tube- straight line distance= 20 3/4 inchesWhat do you think, I am 6'0" and am trying to remember my inside leg as I write this?
EDIT: I get the feeling that it is actually about the right size, might have to pull the trigger!
