ah, i stand corrected.
i read an article about frame repair that said it wouldn't be as strong. they were talking about using some kind of epoxy/fibreglass mixture to seal it up though. makes sense that it wouldn't hold as well as matching the weave.
maybe it was old info...Actually on re-reading my reply i was perhaps a bit harsh, which i didnt mean to be - i would say it is pretty much impossible to repair a monocoque carbon structure where retaining the original structural integrity is essential (although i may be wrong), whereas it is possible to effectively repair carbon used in more conventional ways. Carbon tech is evolving so fast (and has been around for long enough now) that what they can do with/to it is constantly changing.

you say putting bikes to waste i had to cut up a £3500 felt carbon frame because of a little crack in the seat stay
Theres a mechanic at Mend a Bike in Fulham who can fix carbon - i was in there on tuesday and he was repairing a giant full carbon road frame.
Some dude had bought it for 400 quid out of loot, turns out it was stolen , the left hand side of the rear triangle had been cut out to nick it, then glued back together - the thief had just put stickers round where the frame had been cut - the buyer only realised when he took off the stickers.
The mechanic has loads of experience with carbon from a previous career, and was fixing it up proper job. I would highly recommend taking them anything that you think might be beyond repair, as they can work miracles

Armourtex are doing my frame and forks (Langster 06), stem, and cranks matt black next week whilst i am in france - will be able to post pic when back.
Charging 80 quid for the lot, but that is because Alu fram harder to prep - if it was steel the would have charged for 60 quid for the lot, or 45 for frame and forks only.
OK, so i have got my stuff back and it looks the nuts, plus they only charged me 50 quid in the end for frame, fork, bars and stem.
When i went in they had someone elses ride ready for collection in the darkest matt black they can do, and they showed me a sample of the less matt/satinish black that they said is originally a Saab colour for some under bonnet part.
I ummed and ahhed for a bit but went with the mattest finish, and am glad i did. The finish is perfect, and it looks factory quality - IMO matt black only looks shit when you diy it . . unless you like that look!
If you want it matt black then go all the way - the satin isnt matt black. I am having some other work done to it, but it will be built back up by the weekend, when am happy for you to have a look at it, i am based in Fulham.
I dont have a digi camera, but will try and borrow one and post some pics.
Armortex did a top notch job, and i will be going back to them with some bits for a custom chop i am building as i was so impressed with them.

looks great! i want one! means i can make a brake less bike with a bit of cheat for the rear, still not strong enough to skid stop
if you decide to order, i may go halves on shipping cost if you fancy it? (depending on where you get it from!)
Have contacted Kogswell who stock em in the US and they will not have them back in stock till June, but will ship em to UK.
I am waiting to hear back from Velosteel themselves as to whether there is a dealer in the UK, or if i can get them direct, though it says on their website that minimum factory order is 25 units, which i might well do as i think there may be enough people interested round here to make it worth while.
Will keep you posted . . .
