I normally buy 90% of stuff used on eBay or Forums but this time It’s at the lbs being built, I’m not gonna faff with internal wiring / routing and rebleeding myself
Total bill of parts is about £500 ( at a good discount under retail and no labour costs as they are good friends) and good thing is I can sell all my unused bits for slightly more than that so I’ll have saved money overall

Why does anyone need to charge while riding, the battery’s last 2000miles? They’d last a non stop LeJoG with ease
As for SLX options, because it’s a titanium and carbon ultegra specced bike as is, seems crazy to downgrade components to entry level just to try a new system. I’m of course not against spending money but on this occasion sticking to the 2x makes the most sense, if I do change eventually it will be to equivalent spec or better 👍🏻

I’ve shown the online some of these 25% less than retail prices here..
Wolftooth ultegra ring cheapest online £80
Xt wide range cassette cheapest online £61.99
Hanger adapter cheapest online £24
Xt Chain cheapest online £23.99Closer to £200 and I’m not knocking 1x - I’d like it, but it does mean scrapping my perfectly good cassette, chain and ring when I’d rather spend my upgrade money elsewhere (for now)

1x seemed like a neat idea when I decided to switch my road setup to more of a road plus / gravel but now after looking at it I’m happy with sticking to 2x for the mo...

As far as the di2 charging box goes not sure what you mean? You’ve charged your battery while riding? How big are your rides?
“ A modern Di2 battery is said to last between 2000 and 5000 kilometers per charge. This depends a bit on how often you shift and also your shifting style. The front derailleur has to work harder than the rear derailleur and thus also consumes more energy”There’s nowhere better to hide the box on a ti frame when the bar end solution exists but I will buy new bars (zipp xltc SL) for the di2 routing instead of drilling my current zipp bars
The frame has internal routing for the gears and hydraulics so make sense to go full neatness 🤷♂️ -
Because di2 is crazy prices - rear di2 GRX mech, double wide ring and ultegra spider adapters, new cassette would be best solution but cost £350+
I can happily not go with the XD driver and giant chainring for the massive range as I’m just not that bothered about that side of things
I could get an adapter for the current ultegra di2 but a basic cassette, ultegra compatible chain and ring alone is £180
Along with the fact it will need a new t47 bb anyway, my current bike is post mount and the new frame is flat mount so got to fork out for new calipers (adapter won’t clear the frame) and I’m going to get the neater bar end di2 controller, wires and stuff I want to keep additional costs to a minimum.
Decided just keeping 2x means I just need the new post mount calipers and di2 controller to transplant the parts . I can always move to 1x when this cassette and chain wear out

I had a very long conversation at the bike shop today on how I can convert my new Ti frame to a 1x di2 setup with all my old road di2 parts. Turns out it’s gonna cost a shit ton so gonna stick the 2x setup and just have carbon 650b instead - any had any experience with the TRP hylex and di2 climbing shifters adaptation?

Amazing to be fair - the pickups are splittable with the volume and tone on push/pull pots so it can sound like a lot of things! I’m thinking I might fit a traditional JM pickup in the neck though, I only need that that single / humbucker vibe in one position and the bridge makes sense for that. Also neck JM seems right to me

This is the third neck I’ve tried, got a stewmac shim in the post (actually 3) and still have to fit this kill button but struggling to commit on drilling the pickguard and also need to fit washers so the toggle and push pull switches are flush with the guard. Put a few coats of clear nitro on the headstock but want a few more to make the water slide edges invisible
Part of me is tempted to just keep my j mascis and sell this to buy a vintage mustang though 😆

You rode 1800km without stopping to sleep and charge your battery? Impressive 👏
