Wife wants the garden screened from the road.
The photo is taken from inside the area we want screened off.
Thinking of some kind of wire mesh to make higher cover on fence sections, secured with zip ties, and then have a climber planted by both walls.
Needs to be evergreen. Don't really like ivy but it would be ideal in this case.
Advice welcome.
Can't be bamboo though as wife is Japanese and has a pathological fear of it running amok and uprooting our house.
There's some wisteria to the right of photo but obvs in winter it's not much use.
Not sure what to do about gate area. -
The homebuyers survey on our house we were selling took around 2 hours.
The guy was walking around saying things into his phone/dictaphone.
It was horrible to hear him pick apart stuff I didn't even think I should worry about...
"Can't see if there's any air bricks under the decking by the rear extension."
"Door doesn't open and close properly"
"There appear to be frozen sausages in the lawn"
In the end it didn't really matter. The surveyors took ages to deliver it to the buyers who didn't seem fussed by anything anyway! -

We went with this flooring from this firm for our kitchen and utility:

Happy with the results
And have 3x boxes left if you want them! -
We’ve got builders renovating our bathroom in the next week or 2 so they’ll be doing some plastering anyway.
Guess I could hack out the dodgy bits and they could plaster over it to save £££.
How do you remove the lining paper without taking off excess plaster? Soak with water or paint on PVA to dry it out and crack it off? -

How can I repair this internal wall and make it straight enough to paint?
Ideally as cheap as poss.
Have removed old built in wardrobe and as expected some of the plaster has come off with it.
It has lining paper on it and if I remove more of the lining paper then more plaster will come off too.
Victorian house, walls dry but spongy/bouncy in areas behind the lining paper.
Don’t think glueing thin MDF or wood onto the current wall is an option,
Could nail it on?
Plasterboard? -

Thanks
Yeah we should reveal the floor - that's a good shout.
Not set on white woodwork - just put on a tin of the grey to get a feel and we don't really like it.
It seems trend now is to paint it all same colour so will try that.
Splashback was originally going to be same as worktop but when they measured up they said it was too big for a single slab and there would have to be 2 joins which we didn't want.
So plan now is to paint it.
I'm gonna give the pinky colour a go. -
We have a kitchen colour quandry.
Tried to colour match the paint with units but the paint we got is a darker grey.
It actually may have been serendipitous as it may not have worked if it was same shade.
And the worktop is somewhat plainer than we imagined.
Alternative option is a light grey-pink like Fired Earth Marsilla (in the last photo on the board resting against the wall).
Whatever we choose now is likely to stay that way for some time.
Thoughts? -
If weather's OK what about walk along Southbank and across Millennium Bridge?
Could take river boat up Thames from Deptford too.
My young uns loved the Tate Gallery big slope - just climbing it and running up and down and inside is fun too.
Is there a Xmas fair type thing there now too by National Theatre?
Pretty sure there's some kind of stalls in Traflagar Square also -

We went with Wren after looking at Howdens, Magnet and IKEA.
Would suggest trying all of your local ones and choose which you feel happiest with as they do vary a bit.Our builder doesn't like IKEA.
Magnet were OK but we didn't like some of the worktop options
Howdens we liked and our fitter has an account, but after coming round and measuring up the guy who runs the local office ignored all my calls and emails!
Wren were just the easiest to deal with.
However their recommended fitter didn't fill us with confidence so we went with our own. -
Thanks

Any recommendations for non-wool carpets in beige/oatmeal colour, and also suppliers?
Tried Tapi which are a bit pricey, and some samples from designer carpets and online carpets. Wife wants something neutral and not grey.
Had a nightmare with wool moths before and want something soft for bedrooms.
We have a fitter lined up.
