Yep , fell off in the first week of riding clipless. Embarrassingly slow fall at traffic lights, couldn't unclip from my eggbeaters no matter how much i twisted my foot out. Took my shoe off (still attached to pedal), realised the bolts had become loose, and cleats were spinning around. Upgraded to 'premium' cleats right away, and no problems of that kind. Come out a few times skidding, like many.
Good thing about the eggbeater cleats are the two release angles, so as and when you get more confident, you can swap the cleats over which increases the angle at which your foot releases.
Agree with Sparrow on sticking to which foot you put down....always.

On Evelyn Street (SE London) towards Depford / Greenwich, a guy on a tall slim and elegant white Claude Buttler conversion with red grafics, red front rim, white tyre at the bike, I stayed behind you to protect me from the wind! Thank you!

Hello, sounds like me. Thursday evening? Were you on grey frame? I turned right, homewards, before the petrol station.
Was a windy evening, thanks.
Geoffrey Butler btw.

I've just had my saddle stolen, and am now going to go for Zep's method. I've been thinking about all the sorts of prevention methods, and this seems the most inexpensive one, that protects the seatpost and the saddle (providing the length of chain is right). Yes it may look crap, but riding saddle-less isn't good, and bikes are to be ridden.
If i have my doubts about it, i'll go quick-release and take it with me everywhere.

So pissed me, just cycled home 5 miles standing. My cleats have never felt so dug into my feet.
Some fucking wanker decided he felt like my Brooks Swift honey saddle today.
Stolen between 2-5:30pm outside university (LCC) where my bike was locked up. I'm lucky that's all that got taken, but still gutted!
Probs long gone by now, but if anyone sees any activity about a worn honey swift with chrome rails that they feel is dodgy, get in touch with me please.
Wish i'd done that whole chain in an inner job, it was always on the the to-do list! Lesson learnt.
DAMN.

Hello, i'm after a shorter reach front brake caliper.
Been running this or a while, everything was good.
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=27807#ProductDescription
I then snapped my frame, swapped all the components over onto new frame, and the reach is too long, my brake pads are now ruining my braking surface on new front wheel. It's at the highest position the caliper will allow, and barely touching my machined Deep V.
Does anyone have the same one with a 49mm reach that they'd be happy to swap or anything similar and decent, or any suggestions?
Many thanks,
DM

Hello.
Following on from a previous thread i listed a few moths ago 'How would you measure your cycling'. I am once again after some opinions from you.
I'm a graphic design student doing a mapping project in relation to London. I've chosen to concentrate on a cycle-specific map to London and would like to hear the voices of London cyclists.
My project has come to creating maps that will direct cyclists to destinations the quickest way, sort of 'as the crow flies'.
My design atm is a radial-laced wheel ontop of a London map (LM1 from Stamfords), this wheel has 8 spokes, and i'm now at the stage of picking my destinations. My hub is Trafalgar Square/Nelson's Column. This is because apparently the GPO used Charing Cross as the centre of London to help postmen know how may miles it was to London (as London itself wasn't too specific).
One my destinations are known, i can go about deciphering routes and move further with the project. So i'm asking from you, what places in London would you most want to cycle to? What would your destinations be? Name as many as you like.
Any appropriate opinions would be helpful, as this is going to be submitted for a Design Museum competition and may go into print, so no 'my mate Steve's house...' please.
Many thanks for this and the previous thread input.
