Must admit I'm looking at going down this path, but only because the frame I'm a cyclocross monstrosity frame with carbon forks for disc breaks as standard and I've just ordered oh so trendy rims with non-machined side walls that I don't fancy stuffing up with rim brakes.
I also figure when I take this beast out slushing through the mud off road disc brakes are going to be better than rims, and as a 120kg mountain bike I love my hydraulic disc brakes. -
I've heard of brackets to mount disc calipers to the rear but would put money on no such thing existing for a front wheel. Running disc breaks on a non-disc fork would be a recipe for a nasty snapped for incident, they just aren't designed to take large lateral loadings. If you really want disc breaks you would need a new hub, and new forks, may as well get a new bike really.

How about something a little flasher?

Nice, so very nice....

Yeah but no but... if I was after a set of ordinary old Deep-V's then yeah would be cheaper to buy here, but I NEED some ELVS ones, which are only sold in the states and this is the only shop that sells them AFAIK. Total HHSB rims and I don;t think I'll be running into another set out by the bike shed.
@ jDB: doesn't customs wade in and make things more pricey though? Have you done it before? Might save some bucks if you ask around to see what happened to someone else.
I saw those wooden ones once....mmmmm..

Don't know if your interested but I'm going to order a pair if ELVS Deep V's from the states because its the only place you can get them. http://www.bikemania.biz/Velocity_Deep_V_700cc_Road_Rims_p/velocity_rim_road_deepv.htm
$50US postage for a pair, bt you can even get them in wood grain if you want. Making an order soon if you want save on the postage. -

Not sure where else to post this, but this add looks very suspicious. if this is the genuine owner selling this bike I'll eat my hat.

Good thanks mate. Just need to get front caliper/cable/lever sorted and am skint until pay day (end of next week)! Only working credit card I have is American Express, hence asking about US online sites as no UK sites I can find take AmEx. Gaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Desperately fighting my impatience gene!
:D
Sounds like its hardly worth it, by the time you order and wait for postage from the states it will be end of next week. If your that impatient why not find a bike store that accepts Amex and but from the shop, instant gratification and shouldn't cost to much more.

Well I've just dumped $1200 US on a complete bike through Speedgoat in the US, even with shipping charges and duty and vat it still ends up being heaps cheaper than buying here, I mean the frame alone retails for £499 and no more are available in the UK untill end of the year. Would be nice to avoid all the taxes but some things are still heaps cheaper to buy from the states.

Reading these post is making my head hurt, where are the grammar police when you need them?
On the helpful note, the main thing to be looking for in geometry is top tube and seat tube length. If you have a long torso and arms then you will find longer tt should give a more comfortable ride without having to resort to a long stem. If you have long legs then frames with a long seat tube will tend to fit you better and reduce the need for long seat posts.
Also check out toe overlap, if your an inexperienced rider trying fixed for the first time a OTP track bike like the Fuji can catch you out with the toe overlap, but with experience you tend to get used to it.

Hey guys, I've been looking at totally hip-hop enslaving a bike and found this site:
https://www.bikemania.bizFirst question is has anyone had any dealings with them?
Second question is anyone interested in a group order of low priced high fashion bits to save on postage costs?
Third question, has anyone seen these cheaper anywhere else?
for $149 USI'm looking at getting some wood grained Deep-V rims, fancy coloured Sugino Messenger cranks and other bits and bobs.

nah, riser that hhsb
Hip-hop enslave that bike!
Risers, red and white deep V's front and rear with alternate colour hubs and red and white spokes. Then get yourself a Team Great Britain skin suit and head down to your local trendster bar.
In all seriousness a $150 fram isn't that expensive to feel bad about using as a daily beater, even a basic wheel set will cost about that much.
Scapper, any idea what sort of steere length the for would need? there is one up on ebay at the moment, 185cm threaded does that sound workable?
