Hippy is right, duct tape + zip ties will fix anything.
Drove 900 miles home from france with the best part of the cooling system held together with said items, 300 TDi Defenders are indestructable. I momentarily gave up going up a big hill near Bourg-Saint-Maurice, we rolled back down, managed to snap the square drive, bodge the hell out of it, laughed and went back to the top the next day.

They should last a fair while, my seat post, stem and bar 'sleeve' are all polished and they hardly ever need doing again, and once its done it really is only a quick buff to get it gleaming again. Think Gabes has said before it lasts a fair while.
Use Autosol (or similar) for the final poilsh, it will protect the surface a bit to, so will last that bit longer.
If its a pair of rims won't they be anodised not painted? In which case does Nitromors work, or do you have to use oven cleaner or something, theres a good post with pictures somewhere on how to do it. It recomends beer + sunny day + beer.

Look through the pedal carefully, you should be able to see the threads on the bolt to tighten them. If your at the end of the threads then no idea what you do, if not your should be able to get there. If its not at the end and you can't tighten it ... i reckon you've done something bad and you will be punished in due course.
