this poll stinks:
all the newbies are choosing not to take it out of shame.
and all the older guys are jumping at the chance to show their pride.
if all members/un-registered readers of the site were to enter in the poll, the result would be v. different.from the second I arrived in london I wanted to ride. but didnt have the funds to buy a bike until about a year later. rode geared for about 2.5 years, finally been fixed for last 4 months.
I orriginally thaught that fixed was only for messangers or posers/wannabes. so didnt buy into it. but after reading up and talking to a few people decided I wanted to give it a go. I put my first bike together and loved it instantly.I can tell why racers use fixed geard bikes for training/winter sessions, all the spinning really strengthens you up! I've since gone back on geared aluminum racers and you just f**ing fly on them! cos your pedaling tecnique and strength/speed is really improved. so damn quick!
i've got the bike cos i love fixed gear bikes, not the fixed gear scene.

Hows about these ones:
Strawberrys are part of the rose family.
Wallnuts tan in the sun.
oh and this whole 'dogs cant look up' stuff is a load of shit. I used to live in the second floor of a council flat and the guy below me had a garden with a dog (and some weed growing in some pots - but thats another story) and I always used to piss the dog off. he used to look up at me and bark like crazy. Fair enough they cant look up very well: they've got short necks and they have to lower their hind legs a bit, but they can look up!!
and this whole cows cant go down stairs thing. well they can! but only backwards. Thats still going down stairs!!
(my 2 cents) -
cavendish cycles usually stock them for £25. highly recommeded store so go down there and check them out. (call first to confirm they've got them instock)
website:http://cavendishcycles.wordpress.com/
contact them by: http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1284/2865.phpi've got one from them. reccomend taping up the frame to prevent the plates scratching off the paint.

yea, its a bitch to find.
and there's not much on it.http://cavendishcycles.wordpress.com/

@ hvadhir
bikes a beaut mate. one of the nicest i've seen. what colour/effect are those deep vs?
yea i would have filed down the frame before the spray. but otherwise perfect!@ dale
conversions can me more comfortable than pistas cos of there relaxed geometry. Sometimes i wish i thaught of that before I'd bought my track frame (but then i tell myself that i'm too young to be buying bikes for comfort). but i agree that there are nicer road frames out there to convert. -
just putting this in for if someone tries to search for this in the future:
if you want to manually put in your links to other urls so that they can be displayed as a single word.
use the example below: replacing "example" with your url of choice
and "hyperlink" with the words you want to display the link.
and then add another "]" at the end:[hyperlink[/url
then looks like this : hyperlink](http://www.example.com)
if you select the links below the "posting rules" at the bottom of the page theres more info, it just took me a while to figure that out so I figured Id make this searchable post.

@Muminku - why did you decide to post this here considering it happened so long ago? I'm not saying that because it happened so long ago it now doesn't matter but I'm curious as to your reasons. Serious question...
I'm with VanUden. If your trying to clear your concience then explain yourself further... you claim "bullying from the top down". In what way?
What about the company's ethics?
Do you reccomend not using their business? -
Oh and I was at Brick Lane market on Sunday and they had one!
The spokes felt flimsy as shit and the chain ring looks like its made of shitty tin can metal so the teeth will wear down really easily.
I'm not going to say much more incase it turns out to be a super bike! hahahaGot no idea about the weight as the guy was a grumpy b@s**d and wouldnt let me pick it up.
This is going to be sweet!!!
Oh and he was selling it for £200. And when I told him it was cheaper on the net he just shrugged.

I dont think its too much of a problem. Its just the natural decomposition of a biycles life.
someone has a crash on their bike, buckles the wheel.
cant really be bothered to walk it home so locks it up.
cant really be bothered to collect it.
gathers dust. kicked over. drunks piss on it.
salvageable parts are removed in decending order of quality. To be given new life (mainly in BLB)
rusty skeleton left.Council removes frame.
steal melted down and used for a Unipack courier bike for £199. -

Dont buy one of these!
I've bought these shitty ToysRUs bikes in the past. They are the biggest waste of money! Products like these are directed at first time buyers that have no knowledge about bikes.
They are made of the cheapest materials possible and wont last you more than a month!
After the first few weeks the bottom bracket/ crank will start to creek and all the components will start getting out of line. Things will bend and snap off and you'll end up binning the whole thing.Jokes aside from the earlier posts, do not purchase these types of bikes!
You'll only have to purchase a better bike in 1months time and be £200 out of pocket. If your looking to get a cheap fixed gear try an 'off the peg' bike like a Fuji for £300. or you'll find 2nd hand Langsters on ebay/gumtree for £200. These are great bikes for starting out and they've got resale value if you decide that a fixed gear isnt for you or you want to upgrade.
Dont buy the shitty ToysRUs bikes!

I've got a Topeak Rocket Micro, heard people wine that it takes too long to pump up a wheel, but I've havent had any problem. I pump up a new inner tube in a few minutes which is good enough. It probably doesnt get it up to the correct pressure but its good enough to get home, so I top up the tyre with a propper track pump later.
Get it and the Specialised Mini wegie to hold it, its a small saddle bag that perfectly fits a spare inner-tube, the pump, a cloth and some tyre leavers. It'll make sure you always keep going. -

yea I didnt mention that to avoid complicating things further,
I am aware that if I change frames I most definitely will have to change bottom brackets ....
....but hypothetically If I have for example an Italian bb (60mm diameter) with a JSP taper of 103mm length,
....then surely if I fitted a track frame with a British bb (58mm diameter) with a JSP taper of 103mm length... then I should get the same result???Oh.. I didnt know Italian bbs arent reverse threaded.. thanks for the heads up!
saw this beauty outside this really cool looking shop :)
