Vinz, get well soon. I had a few nasty offs, but nothing that required even 30 stiches, much less 184 stitches. I agree with almost everything the folks above have said. Can I only recommend a neck brace, and I'm "sure" your back may not be feeling the same eh? In that case, your legally-knowledgable siblings will be smiling at the thought of you wafting past in any vehicle of your choice, 2 wheeled or 4. Back and neck injuries pay out the most, as far as I am aware.
Good luck, and I hope you get what you deserve, which I think should be an insurance-paid-for rest in Hawaii. Then come back to a Colnago, or similar.

Who's near Sutton Street (nr Goswell Rd), with a set of Allen keys?
A fella that works where I work on Old Street has just come out of the local boozer, to find someone has locked their MTB through his bottle cage on his locked Claud Butler MTB. Can anybody help?
07779-102-196 (dude with locked up bike - he's "DREW")
Cheers to anybody that can help.

I can remember it in pictures, but not the precise years. The older boys on "racers" were about 11, but to us, we thought they were giants and probably related to Superman - well, they did get onto a bike where if I tiptoed really high, I could barely touch the saddle. I would say we kids' heads were below the top tube by quite a distance. It took weeks, or months, to try to balance on this racer; sitting on the top tube so as to only push the pedal a quarter stroke, before it was too far away again. It was all about going downhill, and going wheeeeeeeeeeee! I probably thought I was The Flash, Batman or Supes, or something, but if I were young now, I'd cycle no-handed, and say - I'm Chris Hoy!

If ever the police wont help, round up a posse, keep them hidden, buy the thing back, perform a citizen's arrest. This would be for the man selling known stolen goods, and having apprehended a person involved in the theft and sale of the said stolen bike. The reason to have back-up? The theif, or his accomplice wont take being arrested very well. But when the police DO turn up, to help free the thief, as I'm sure they will, you state that you have arrested him, and your posse are witness to the fact that it was done legally. Any bruising suffered by the thief, was caused when you only used the minimum amount of force, to effect the arrest. After that, 25 to 50 in Sing-Sing. Job done.

There've been loads of designs connecting 2 circular discs for human pedalled travelling. My vote for best/most interesting design goes to the Pedersen.
A fully suspended frame, way ahead of its time. http://www.pedersen-bike.dk/pedersenbikes.htmWhat's your favourite cycle design?

If leaning forward might stretch your back to much, or be painful, then you might consider a recumbent with suspension. I personally find them too low, but here are a few:

Or maybe a Pedersen cycle, the world's first suspension bike.

I tried to find the article within the Independent Online site, but it doesn't show it. I've got only got the hard copy Independent magazine. The link I showed was all I found to lead to the article. Dud I guess?

The Saturday Independent had an article on the BEST 50 Bikes. The Charge Plug won! Also included was a Pista and other single-speeds. Funny though that the Charge Plug was number one, and the writer works for Ev*ns. blogs.independent.co.uk/independent/2008/02/50-best-bikes.html. Is there a trend amongst the journos at the moment to get on their proverbial bikes, and chat/write about single-speeds? Thats 2 national papers in the same weekend, having features that have fixies in them. Coincidence?

I've lived in London the past 24 years. I live in SW6 now, but previously W9, W10, SW18, and SE6.
