Just finished touring ss for a month around Sumatra in Indonesia. I've kept a blog up to date as there wasn't much information on the web about cycling in the area. Turns out that it is pretty amazing.

Touring SS is good (fixed is silly in areas where there are mountains) but next time I'm going to install a three speed hub gear as swapping wheels in the heat is hard.

oh, it is also illegal to race on tiagra. you need at least 105. :)

save your self some money, buy a compression bag (£10) two straps (£2-£5). done. 12L is loads of clothes. If you're only carrying clothes then it shouldn't weigh much.

don't use a backpack, just get your bike, and strap a compression bag to the seat (you can do this with any bike).

alternatively you can get a heavy audax bike + carrdice + reto jersey + some old campy groupsets and join the ctc.

anyone got a ENO double haning around that they want to sell? I'm thinking of using one to tour ss but can't find them online.

I'm not that fussed as I think it might cuase chain line issue and I'll be better just running cogs on either side of the hub.

also, if it is raining all day i'm bailing.

I was at a loose end after the trains were cancelled. we checked victoria trains and it said the same (though it wasn't).

all fixed up and no where to go, idea of north hills or regent's park didn't really compare to the lanes of kent. couldn't even be bothered racing people on the way home.

General Synopsis of weather pattern (from MeteoGroup UK )
Sunshine and scattered showers this afternoon, perhaps locally heavy with a small risk of hail and thunder. The showers will tend to die out this evening and it should become dry from around 20-2100. The remainder of the night is expected to be dry with clear spells although cloud may increase later on. RSTs above zero.
