Alright everyone (that paid interest in this case). A whopping 9 months after the incident (after receiving a letter informing me of possibly court summons after 5 months), I got whacked with a £165 fine, which I do believe is just under three times that of a speeding ticket if you were driving a car (excuse me if I'm wrong). Also, the fine is actually £100, and £65 is for 'costs'. Obviously there's no breakdown of what I'm getting for my extra £65 though.

Paid off half, paying the rest off within a month. The charge was dropped from 'wanton or furious cycling' to a mere 'dangerous cycling'.

Just like to point out again that 1. I was going very slowly, even if I hit someone it wouldn't have done a thing, and 2. The single person there was not within the lines of the crossing.

Also, it is more than fair to complain about killer taxis, I get them cuttin me up and forcing me into the curb for no reason ther than that they can. I was just trying to save some time by going through a red light with one ped on it, where I know for a fact that it is a red light for all directions of traffic.

Anyway, being sent to court facing a £2500 fine isn't really a fair rule for jumping a light. Also, you believe the police get off on 'enforcing the rules'? Then why are there so many dickhead taxi drivers who get away with trying to run cyclists off the road?

Agreed - if you're going to try and be a cowboy at the very least check behind you and don't get caught. Otherwise you get what you deserve.

Well I'm not trying to be a cowboy thanks, half of the cyclists on the road jump reds, but obviously beig a courier I'm going to do it whenever I can. And I did actually look behind me, I do most ofthe time, but he must have been quite far back or something.

So basically I went through a red light (very slowly, about 4mph) at Cambridge circus yesterday turning right up charing cross road, there was one ped crossing the road (not within the pedestrian crossing markings), shorty followed by copper on motorbike pulling me over. He said he's stopping me for dangerous wreckless or careless cycling. He then read me my rights as if he was arresting me, and told me I would receive a summons IN THE POST for me to appear at a magistrates court. He gave me no paperwork or documentation/endorsement/tilet informing me of what I had done/the penalty, and just told me I could receive a fine of up to £2500.

Surely this is not entirely legit, especially as he gave me literally nothing to take away. If had a few run ins with the police and every time I got a ticket.

Anyone know anything/heard anything like this before?
