Here is a link to Medical Aid for Palestinians

Haaretz did publish the story. It's almost a word-for-word match with the Jerusalem Post article. Again with no mention of any condemnation or pushback.
To me (an idiot) it looks like there's currently little room in Israeli public life to counter genocidal rhetoric. This at a time of a huge military campaign and in the context of the completely asymmetric nature of the conflict.
For anyone concerned with avoiding genocide, that should be a massive red flag.

FFS, there are 219 comments, plus reactions in other papers if you've got the initiative to google the guy's name.
… but the article didn’t seek or report any reaction. That’s unusual. In UK media reactions to controversial political gaffs are often part of the story. The fact that here it isn’t could suggest these types of opinions/statements are either normal, or won’t have immediate and serious consequences for the Mayor (or both). I find that remarkable - a reflection of Israeli society maybe. That was the point you failed to grasp. Sorry if I wasn’t explicit enough for you.
A lot of this thread is childish nonsense posted by people who need to have their hand held just to read the fucking papers.
Fuck off. Have some self awareness.

Al Qaeda grew mostly from the CIA arming funding and double-crossing useful militia I think. Religious fundamentalism was a bolt-on and they were effectively shut down quickly after 9/11.
I get your point though.
Islamic state were a predictable result of the horror and chaos of the ‘War on Terror’. The Taliban in Afghanistan remain.

stick to watching Piers Morgan.
It could be worse. This is worth seeing.
I think you share a point of view with finkelstein about what it’s reasonable to expect from people who’ve suffered for generations. People turn to extremism when other options are closed down. Israel in the last 20 years has very much ensured that political options are closed down, the PA corrupted, Egypt under the thumb etc.
I’m not sure he actually expresses it here, but Finkelstein has spoken about his parents attitude towards Germans (for decades) after surviving the holocaust and how hatred is really human nature to be managed (I’m paraphrasing).

Well that (the Atlantic opinion piece) was pretty depressing.
It’s a ropey smear on the term Settler Colonialism. I understand why a Zionist would want to do that.
Ultimately it is sophistry to excuse a retaliation that takes twenty times the lives. I understand why a supremacist would want to do that.

There is tension between risk of accidentally parroting half-truths/propaganda and being silent/ignoring survivors.
I feel so little trust in anything coming via Israeli gov’ managed sources I’ll believe nothing until verified.
Following Israel’s line and shitting on the UN in this context is just mental. I’m amazed people are falling for it.

Shamefully the UN Women's agency has remained silent on it.
Not silent. There was a statement a week prior to your post.
The Independent investigation the UN would like is probably not happening because all access to testimony and evidence is restricted. Isreal say they are conducting their own.
So yes whilst Netanyahu calls publicly for condemnation and investigation, he blocks independent investigation.

Regarding boycotts/divestment …
There’s a long list of ethical and environmental reasons to not bank with Barclays PLC. The PSC have now marked them for boycott due to arms investment.

But by far the biggest factor is the large population of Jewish people in the US, which is almost as big as the population of Israel.
But it’s still only ~ 7 million.
The US is home to 140 million Protestant Christians. Evangelical support for Zionism is really strong, even direct funding of illegal West Bank settlements. It’s mad.

This is more terrifying. Maybe because of learning from Iraq, this angers me more.
This is mass ethnic displacement and could become ethnic cleansing. A second Nakba. This is what Francesca Albanese of the UN said after the first week.
I don’t know what percentage of Israelis or diaspora Jews wants the occupied territories ‘cleared’, but I’m not sure that matters.

The guardian live updates mentioned a breakaway group of 2000 (!). I think that was the group that made up the ~80 group-arrest. By the sounds of it this lot would fight their own shadow.
Thank fuck they didn’t get to the march.
The Met tactic of kettling them before they even leave the pub is amazing (but does rely on a spooky amount of surveillance).
It was read to me (in English) last night by a mother of twin, seven year old boys. She is safe in Exeter, UK. She’s just finished a PHD. Her children are somewhere in gaza (moving again and again, she gets to speak to them roughly every couple of days). It broke by fucking heart.
